I noticed my airbag light come on right about the time I was making a 90 degree turn and accelerating onto main road (nothing out of the ordinary- the turn &acceleration). Read the codes and got:

    B1801 - Open in D(rivers) squib circuit
B1660 - P(assenger) seat airbag active mode indicator

Ive never seen this light before. My wheel has stereo controls and speed control, all work as well as the horn. Could this be a spiral cable? Ive seen conflicting results where it may or may not cause controls/horn not to work.

Ive checked all the plugs and they are snug. The passenger seat yellow plug is loose from the little nub it clips onto under the seat but the connection is tight.

Could 1660 cause 1801 to pop? or vice versa?

Light usually is off right upon start up, till I start moving then it comes on.

Not trying to throw a $200+ clockspring/spiral cable in it to find she aint the culprit.

Yes Ive searched the forum. Thanks

As mentioned the light was off on startup but once I started driving, it would come on. Decided to troubleshoot...

I started the truck and didn't touch anything for 20 minutes, no light. I sat in the drivers seat, moved the seat around, bounced etc, no light. I sat in the passenger seat, moved it around, bounced, no light. With the truck in park, I rotated the wheel, the light came on. Clock spring was bad and all my controls were still working (not typical from what ive read).

For the 06 offroad with all the controls (there are different clockspring(s) depending on if you have audio/cruise etc toyota looks them up by VIN NOT year/model) it was ~$330 with tax. Biggest pain was being extremely careful NOT to let the clock spring turn trying to get the wheel on etc. If it rotates it can and apparently will break. Another nerve racking part was trying to get the positioning sensor off the back of the clock spring. One video I watched made no mention of that or two extra sensor wires I had. About 6 plastic clips, just waiting to break. Yeah I could have gotten one from online for less than $50 but im not trusting some crap with my life. Anyone who works on things knows how often you get faulty sensors, no thanks I like my airbags working..

Reset the codes, drove around for a while... no light & no codes.

With the money I saved from doing it myself I bought the Foxwell nt604 scanner to do abs/srs in the future. Always nice when a tool pays for it self in one go. Toyota wanted $100 to just run codes.

This is the video I watched: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waz57sUB4wE&ab_channel=AdigaArmory

1801 is almost always the clock spring, good repair.

1600 is a funny one, the best way to fix it is do the seat calibration/zero point first, then check the status light.
