Looking around the web I see conflicting information on this. Some SR5's I see on dealer's websites show a key start. And other information I see show a push button. Not sure if the push button is a stock photo from another trim model? Can it be both types on the SR5?

SR and SR5 have the key. TRD Sport, TRD Off Road, Limited, and TRD Pro have push button start on automatics. TRD models with the manual transmission have a key, if I recall correctly.

Thanks everyone!! Most everything I saw showed a key start...the push button must have been a wrong photo.

FWIW ... I went from "key start" to "push button" and I like the "key start" better ... just my opinion for my use.

My SR5 was a key start and I loved it ... it was my 12th Toyota truck with a key start.

Can I ask why to help my decision on getting a button or stick with key

The decision was likely based on a safety or potential liability issue.

Frankly, my wife's CRV has a push button.....I don't like it. Prefer a key.

i have push button start, was one of the many reasons i traded in my 2008. i will never go back to a key or an 8 track tape. the fob never comes out of your pocket, get in and push the button. IMO

Key for the win. Sooooo many reasons why.

As push button vehicles age out, there will be lots of You Tube hacks telling you how to diagnose, repair, replace and probably even obtain and program replacement keys. And none of it will be cheap.

For me personally I can't think of a single reason to like the push button. And I own one in a RAV Limited. So it's not like I have no experience with them.

Push button all the way, just keep the FOB in your pocket and you are good to go.

Personally, I prefer the push button start. It's nice not having to dig out my keys every time I get in the truck. The same goes for unlocking the doors. Just walk up and grab the door handle and it unlocks. It's just more convenient. I can live with a key, but given the choice, I'll take the whole smart key system.

I have both setups, push button start on my Camry. Which is nice not having to take keys out of pocket getting in or out of. But my Taco has a key and the only nice thing I can say bout having a key is that when I remote start it, the truck won’t die when I open the door. Remote start systems for a push button vehicle die when door is opened but actual key start systems the vehicle will stay running
