Wanted to introduce myself and my new Taco! I have read through this forum a lot and got a lot of great info from y’all. I’m a Texan down here in Dallas, if that matters

This taco is my first brand new car from a dealer. Given the market here, I got a good deal on a new barebones SR v6 4x4. She doesn’t even have fender flares. I bought it so I could get to some of those harder to reach camping spots.

I just took her on her virgin cruise - a camping trip from Durango, CO to Nederland, CO. Stayed out in the San Juan NF before I went over Cinnamon Pass through Silverton and stopped in Lake City, then drove through Gunnison and stayed north of Pitkin before heading to Nederland through Leadville. Drove through the north half of caribou 4x4 trail by Nederland where I found out the value of a skid plate while driving through a deep-ish mud hole.

I’m really impressed at what this truck can do with just some new tires and running boards removed in 4 low. I’ll be interested in doing some more light four wheeling and dispersed camping in NM, CO, and AZ.

    uploading pictures for posterity

I love my SR. I’ve done a few really simple functional mods like Duratracs, seat covers, 4x4 mud flaps and the cap. For cosmetics, I just did the vintage stripes and a TRD grill. I debaged the tailgate and I’m waiting for white Tacoma letters to be delivered. Then I’m done for a while. Such a capable little truck, with a great list of standard features. I think it’s the best deal in the lineup. Welcome to the site. There’s an SR specific thread here somewhere too. IMG_9668.jpg

Nice to see another person getting plenty of use out of the SR without modifying the heck out of it. A little goes a long way most of the time. Liking that cap! What make is it if you don’t mind me asking?

    Here’s a better pic.
    It’s a Lakeland M900.
There are a bunch of places that make something similar.
    Inexpensive and functional.
