SR fog light wire harness and switch recommendations

Hi,
Im aware of other post on here regarding fog lights. My question is actually looking for fog lights recommendations of reliable brands to purchase for the wiring part. Can anyone recommend a good reliable Wire kit and switch so I can get my fog installed?

my main concerns was after googling, people fog light wires can catch fire and switch melt. Hopefully I dont have to deal with it. Much thanks!

I saw that post but couldnt find the link to buy a reliable wiring kit for it…

 

I just did a cheap open box kit from extreme terrain on my SR recently. Came with wiring, fuse, switch, some wires were a little short so I had to add. I paid around $30.

 

I used a harness from CaliRaised. They have some good videos for installation as well.

 

Some people said dont use cheap wire since its not reliable.

 

How about just purchasing the missing OEM harness?

 

The wires fine. It was just a bit short. Bet ya I won't have a single issue with it.

 

I looked into that too but they said oem involves turning other lights on and is not the best, i dont mind using oem if it works exactly the same as aftermarket. Do you think the 19-21 can fit my 22?

Look at the connector on your '22 and verify it's the same from the Nitori thread. (it should be)

Reddit and also I went to tacoma dealership today and they literally just told me to fk off. Saying if i buy used oem, i need to buy a bunch of other things to make it work. They quote me $2k to have it installed by them lol.

 

Stealership will do all they can to make you pay more. I don't know if REDDIT even quotes this forum.
The SR will be either ready for fogs or not. Like the info on the link I posted. Verify your SR for the missing relay, it may have the terminals to secure the missing relay. Same for the steering wheel light stalk connector, it'll be with or without the required wires. Also the missing bumper harness.
The SR will have the connector open to the environment.
Procure the missing harness and install it. Same for the relay. For the missing switch is either an inexpensive switch or any one you choose. All the switch is doing is providing a signal to ground for the circuit.
With any other type of install you can duplicate what the vehicle is missing, as long as you clone the setup.

 

Probably the reason they catch fire is people are using high current bulbs and using a cheap switch instead of using a relay with good terminals. Generally some people just try to string together a cheap switch to good lights with no fuse and it burns out the switch or the wires or both. Ohms law is straightforward.

 

That looks like the one. Even had a small button switch included. I used one that matched the factory trim plate, just popped out the blank.

i actually have that wire but was wondering what that does. So does this mean mine is prewired? The dealership told me it is not.
