Yeah, whatever they have. Preferably with a tuneable tip so I don't have to cut it.

Been running a 3' Firestik but a 4' would be fine too.

No dice, all they had were shitty non-tuneable ones. I can't get mine below 2 on ch1 and 3 on ch 40 either . . . maybe we can swap antennas and see what happens?

Well, thanks for checking. We'll probably swap antennas and both be worse... :(

    Well, going the wrong direction....

Now my SWR reader isn't moving, so that's either not working, or the radio, or my little 3' section of coax.

This damn radio is driving me insane

That's what mine was doing and it was the mic connection. Check to see if you key it and the gauge moves. If not, I think it is the mic connection.

Mic connection is good. I've checked them, and on top of that little TX bars on the radio light up when keyed, and the PA speaker works fine.

Right you are. Radio is confirmed dead by the communications guy and his $9,000 testing machine. My brother is going to see if he can pick one up in Craig America today.

He found a Cobra 19 Ultra at walmart for $35, only in Craig.....

Anyways, installed, and got a SWR on both 1 and 40 of about 1.5. That'll do for now.

Awesome! And agreed, another great weekend of wheeling and exploring these beautiful mountains! Now I just want to go all the way over Mosquito...

And yes it did suck. God damn CBs. I think I'm just going to start from scratch with a better radio, a new antenna, and pray that it works.

Yeah, it was a bit interesting. I was the first truck through that snowbank this year, and it was a bit precarious. We did manage to try a lot of our recovery gear though....

    So, here's the results:

    DSC00328_zpsfad0c1d2_886734fb17de8326bf81dc7bddfb78ab90e3aa97.jpg

    DSC00329_zps71aee17c_148af50ed0002f5a319cfa534239d0efb68edc22.jpg

Also did this on that first obstacle on Grizzly Lake. Yes i did hit my brand new carrier bearing:

    DSC00330_zps32a3d1d5_1d4cbbb9b0002855ca3ed5f592164dbafd135abd.jpg

And what goes better than carrier bearing hits than gas tank hits:
