Any ideas what’s making this awful noise? It’s sounds more squeaky than on the video.

It really occurs above 2k rpm.

    Serpentine belt looks good.

can't really tell from the vid - but there is a TSB out for certain years related the serpentine belt. ?? check the TSB thread or do a search on the 3rd gen thread. GL.

Check your fan blades and make sure none of them are cracked or broken. Put water on the belt, if it stops then you know it's the belt. The sound on the video does not sound like a belt though. I had a mis firing cylinder because of a bad spark plug that made the coil sort of sound like how that video sounds but that was when I replaced my plugs and had a faulty plug. Have you done something recently under the hood?

Idler or tensioner pulley. Take a broomstick or prybar and touch it to the bolt on those pulleys. Put your ear against the stick. You will find the culprit.

So it was the pulley not the belt itself? Dealer said prob one of the pulleys.
1 pulley is about $160 Canadian
    Another is $287 Canadian
    The tensioner is $550

    Any idea which yours was?

I have 51,000kms on my 17 so out of bumper to bumper warranty so it is not covered

I don't have any noise issues. I'm just saying that it sounds like a classic idler/tensioner pulley bearing. Use that stick method to determine which bearing is bad. Then take the next step. You used to be able to replace just the bearing in the pulleys as they are held in by a snap-ring.

I had a squeaky belt and the dealer had a TSB for a v-ribbed belt. Solved it.

I had the same problem, i replace the 2 idler pulleys (number #2) and the serpentine belt. The problem was fixed.

    The original pulleys were loose

Just took my 2018 in for this issue 3 days before the end of the warranty. Definitely take in a copy of
T-SB-0098-20 to the dealer. They tried every excuse when I brought it in, but when I pulled out the TSB they were like “oh, this came out last year? I don’t even remember seeing it”. Once you show them the TSB they cave and do the work. Never believe that service advisor is looking out for you, it’s in their interest to not do this service.

Ya I am thinking about it now and I am kinda pissed. I actually told them the tsb. They were not aware of it. I brought it back another day for the repair. I had a stupid bill for changing the belt. Plus $20 in shop fees...to change a belt...
I feel like calling and asking about it but its been a couple months now.

I had the same service done and it was mid $300s but was covered under warranty at 21k miles.
