Hi all, I just replaced my tail lights this weekend with a new LED version but now I am getting a code that says brake and accelerator are being pressed at the same time and the thing completely loses all power. There’s no way I am pressing both at the same time so the thought is that it has something to do with the tail lights which makes zero since but that’s all I did. This is a brand new truck 2021’ with less than 1000 miles so before I take it back to the dealer I wanted ask on this forum to see if it’s something simple that I can handle. Thanks in advance for your help!

How often is this code occurring?
Swap the taillights with OEM and see if the issue goes away.

Definitely swap them out before going to the dealership, especially if you think they're suspect. I doubt the taillights are causing the issue but I suppose noise could be the culprit.

I would check the grounding of the taillight circuit.

Appreciate the response, I tried driving it with the original lights back in there and it worked fine so I know it’s the aftermarket lights. Funny thing is if I turn off drl or headlights it works fine but if I start it up with drl or the headlights and try to accelerate that’s when I get the warning light. I mean it completely loses power even when I push the pedal to the floor.

I would return those lights and get something else. ASAP.

I replaced all with , i think, “dynamic diode”. Gave me an electrical problem so went back to oem on JUST the turn signals. All better. 21’ as well.

I found a fix on a forum and manufacturers website sold a fix. But i didn't try it.
I really only need the brighter back up lights.
Switch around the leds to see which one is causing issue (brake, backup, turn, license). Then just oem the problem child

Winjet tails were pretty good. I’ve had mine on for 4 years now. 0727CEBC-1C05-4E44-9153-D9BBB928879F.jpg

It loses power due to the brake-throttle override feature all Toyota's have in response to the whole unintended acceleration thing. Somehow those lights are causing a false brake pedal pressed input and activating the override function.

Whenever I see or hear about a weird electrical problem my first thought is that there is a loose ground somewhere. The fact that you swapped the OEM taillights back in reinforces that. An open ground somewhere will cause weird stuff as the circuit tries to complete it self by finding a ground.

Back when I repaired ambulance electrical systems any time a crew reported something like the siren came on when they used the windshield wipers, I'd start looking for the open ground.

That makes sense. So try swapping back to oem just the brake lite but keep the rest led.

I recently installed the spyder led tail lights on my 17 pro and haven't had any issues.

I had a similar issue years ago on my 1999 4Runner, I had replaced the 3rd brake light with a spyder LED product and oddly enough I was getting a brake light warning on my dash (there was not enough tech to put the vehicle in limp mode but it was still triggering the brake system). The problem was that the LED did not have enough resistance for the system and the truck thought I had a bulb burned out, so it was lighting up the brake system warning. I had to wire a stronger resistor in and it completely fixed the issue. But on a brand new truck if the lights are messing with the truck and causing it to go into limp mode I would return them and get my money back because that is indicative of them probably not lasting very long anyway and then you're out the money and can't return them.

I’ve been running spyder LEDs for about 2months now without any issues. Maybe you received a bad/faulty set..???
