Hey, I ordered a Dorman leaf shackle kit for stock replacement leaf springs on my 2012 TRD Sport.

Considering how unpopular Dorman products are around here, I’m wondering if this is/was a mistake? Haven’t found much info on this spring shackle kit. The local dealership has no OEM in stock and it is a big wait right now. I do a mix of highway and forest service road driving but no serious off roading.

    Anyone have experience with these?

Why are you changing them? Unless you're major rust region I re-use them all the time. They last a long time on these trucks.

Exactly.... and per Archive Garage, between the two piece of hardware, the shackle hanger is the flimsy POS part that needs to be upgraded/braced. The factory shackle is actually quite stout and doesn't need to be upgraded or replaced, unless damaged.

Thanks. I admit my knowledge base with suspension components is pretty limited. My truck has about 310,000kms and I definitely live in a high rust area of BC here in Canada. The shackle still seems solid but has some rust. I was more worried about the bushing degrading but it seems this isn’t much of an issue.

I work in Calgary and I did all the leaf spring recalls, never saw one fail.
You’re not wrong to think ahead but I’d save the money and put it elsewhere. Like bump stops

Hey, I grew up in the Calgary area. I broke a spring on the passenger side. Not overly surprising considering it’s a ten year old truck that has seen it’s share of heavy dump runs over the past few years.

You can replace the bushings. My lift kit came with replacements, but I left the stock ones in place because the truck was less than a year old and the instructions said the replacements were optional.
