For the last week or so I am hearing a spring whenever I depress or let off the brake pedal.

I can hear the spring expanding when I press the pedal and if I get off the pedal quickly I can hear the spring bouncing back into place. Around the same time I started hearing the sound I found this rubber part on the floor mat under pedal.

Any ideas? Take to the dealer?

Put a schmear of thick grease on it and it won't fall out again.

I'm hearing the same thing!! Dealer said there was nothing wrong but sounds like garage door springs every time I push on the brake pedal. I never saw the rubber damper...I'll have to see if there is a part number for it.

I could be wrong, but feel around in that plastic collar that covers the steering shaft. I think someone found that part or another hiding in there?

Thanks! Not easy to reach up in there. Figures I dropped it and now can’t find it. Any idea what the part number is?

Ahhhh my new 2022 brake always felt clunky on fresh engagement? Is this the same issue ?? Given later on at1800miles it feels smoother. But off the lot new my brakes felt trashy. My 2002 Subaru was better ??

My brand new 2023 has that very slight clunk at the brake pedal feeling, when applying as well. I'll take a look to see if that rubber part is there or not, otherwise I'll let it break in longer and see if that changes anything as well...

I’m at 1,900 and it’s okay. I found I needed to press more of the center of the big brake pedal. I was corner riding it like my old Subaru 5sp Manuel

Anyone got a part number for the damper inside the spring?

I had the very same situation as OP. I found this rubber grommet on the floorboard, then I started hearing a spring noise. Took me a couple of weeks to put the two together, and the magic word "damper" clinched it.
So, the Part Number for the spring is 90507-19006 (it also shows up as 9050719006 or 47101A). The spring is sold with the damper inside, so there's not a separate part number for the rubber damper.

I’m having a similar noise (MT) from my brake pedal & cannot pin point it. Mine make the noise when depressed / let off but also while driving down rough roads. My silencer is in, I have backer rod stuffed in spring bottom, & have greased spring ends. I can replicate the sound by tapping by foot on the side of the pedal it’s a spring rattle noise.

Curious if anyone else has found a solution, it’s driving me crazy.
