A thorough cleaning, scotch pad rub down, degreaser, windex wipe down, primer and spray on bedliner. Turned out fantastic! Couldn't be happier. The texture and matte black look so good. I painted my tire lettering red for fun because I was going to turn them on the wheel but liked it so much I did all the letters.

That does look good, and certainly more durable than some good ol' rattle can. How much weight do you think the bedliner adds to each wheel? Pretty light coats I assume?

That's a good question. The only thing I can really say is I used two 15oz cans on all four wheels and about 1/3 of a 12 oz can of primer. 34 oz of paint on 4 wheels equals 8.25 oz. per wheel. I know that's not an accurate measurement. That's the weight of the contents under pressure and you have to allow for burn off and drying. I have removed both grilles today and will be spraying them with bedliner also. Will post pics

I've been pretty busy this week so the project had to wait until the weekend. First thing Saturday morning to be exact. Will post pics.

Got it done today. This was an extremely easy upgrade. I only hit the chrome with the etching paint because I wasn't sure if it would stick to the plastic properly. If you don't like the texture of the bedliner you could just use a gloss paint. I'm extremely happy with how this turned out and it was simple to do. Next step....headlights.

Ewwwwwwww. That's by far the worst product I've ever used! They had some quality issues with that spray on bedliner. Mine started chipping off in less than a month...

I guess we'll see. My buddy has had it on his truck for over two months now without a single problem. It's all in the prep of course. What did you apply yours to?

It was on a light bar and it was prepped VERY well. But the problem was with the actual product there was a very large batch that had quality issues there are a few threads on it.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
Its all in the primer. You needed to use a poly-resin based paint primer for the best results. Then apply the bed liner.

I do agree with you that Rustoleum is the cheapest crap you can get and why you'd waste your valuable labor applying the poorest quality spray in bed liner product is a mystery to me? Guess it is because you can buy it at Wallmart???

My top picks in order of preference (all can be it can be brushed, rolled, or sprayed, but always primer the surface first with a suitable primer product that is appropriate for the surface.): Herculiner, Durabak/Cote-L, Magnaliner, Monsterliner.

My buddies have used the rustoleum after just scuffing up the surface and haven't had one issue and we go out mudding and climbing all the time. I am about to do my valence, fuel door and fenders. I will just sand it down prime it and spray. so I say yes to the rustoleum.

I used the same stuff on my 4 wheeler rack. It seems to be holding up ok.

A few months with this product applied and It's holding up great. The point of doing this mod was to not spend a ton of money and get a new look for my truck. I will be getting steel wheels when It's time to get new tires but this got rid of the stock look for little dough.
