Anyone know how to remove spray-on bed liner without chipping the bed paint? Wire brushes dink up everything and expose the metal, soft brushes won't tear it away. I'll take any suggestions..

I looked around for other threads and couldn't find one covering this issue.. thanks

I don’t think it will be possible.

Stuff isn't made to come off. Google if it is even a thing. someone probably knows how. IMO with my knowledge I would say a new box

You’re going to have to use something with heavy abrasion. If the bedliner was applied properly to begin with, then the paint underneath should be pretty well scuffed up anyway so there will be a need to recoat/respect the bed regardless of the method you use.

New boxes are pretty expensive though, no? I don't have a weed burner so I'll just have to keep brushing away then repaint... this sounds cheaper.

That would be interesting. I think it would just bounce off.

What kind of bed liner? I saw someone cut their line X with a blade then peeled it back and it worked well.

I’m in the process of removing mine right now. It is a pain in the a**. I have been taking a utility knife and cutting the length of the bed every few ridges. Then get the tailgate side edge started and slowly peel it up. Some spots are thinner than others and will tear, leaving little sections that suck to get off. It is a time consuming process, but it can be done.

Some sort of media blasting will be the only way. No way to get that stuff off without taking the paint with it :notsure:

Also, the paint is not removed with it

If you have enough pressure and cfm it will work
I wouldn't go to anything more aggressive ( alumimum oxide etc ) it would take the liner if for sure but it easily could blow holes through the metal.

You could use a wet blasting (sand/water and presure washer)

Good Luck… I just needed to remove the liner from the bed rails and it took four hours with a pneumatic air chisel.

I think I saw a ChrisFix video where he used dry ice to remove the factory sound deadening on a BMW floorboard. It gets the material super cold and brittle enough to hammer off. Not sure if it would work with bed liner, but could be worth trying.
