    Hood Scoop Lights
    Are there such things?
Anyone make specific lights for that area?
    Anyone done anything like this?
Are they for function or look?
Just curious because I have seen them on Tundra’s but not Tacoma’s and thought it was an interesting and underutilized spot…
Obviously pictures and links to these lights or options would be great.
    Thanks

I’ve about given up on finding a hood swap in my color up here in the frigid north. This is a write up that I bookmarked for when/if I decide to go that route:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/light-bar-in-hood-scoop.545621/

There’s a company that makes a kit with brackets, but from what I remember when researching this, most any single row 12” bar will fit in there. Supposedly the Scoop kit/bar kit from eBay/Amazon has really poor output.
Someone in the “what have you done” thread some weeks ago posted an impressive pic of the output from their scoop using this:
    https://www.diodedynamics.com/stage-series-12-sae-dot-white-light-bar-one.html

So that’s what I’d like to get eventually. Maybe one of these for kicks:

There is nothing quick about the search feature here.

However I have fallen into this before we’re I am impatient don’t find anything under the search here and then post something and ask a question and get people to tell me to do a search and then I do a regular Google search and it will bring me back here with good results.
    Sorry for the inconvenience

I did find a few threads after some searching that had “functioning” lights with good results.
Whether or not they still make those lights I’m not sure of but when I find out I will post something up.

Personally I Think it would be kind of cool to have a little extra light up there …to each his own

get the break out harness and daisy chain for your switches, from @kmorgan3, and get them linked to your rheostat, so you can dim them to the same pitch as your dash lights. completes the factory look of the lamp, wiring, and switches. he's a good dude too! Ski

After looking in to it more this one is “off road” only.
I’m pretty sure most if not all are illegal but I’d like to find one that more running light friendly to assist the stock headlights ….I know there are cheep options on Amazon etc but I’d like to avoid those and go with something more quality

lol, the majority of light bars are not DOT compliant. rigid had a few 6" that were sae fog output compliant, but were intended to be mounted under the bumper to be compliant.

there is no light bar that could be mounted that high up that would ever be considered street legal.

Understood BUT something more flood than spot would bring less attention on a dark highway and help an old timer out…

as long as you are not acting like a douche with your light bar, and turning them on and off, like high beams, I doubt any law enforcement will have issue with you seeing better at night.

now... if you drive around like some people do, with them on all the time, day or night, and wont turn them off, down, for oncoming traffic... then karma is a bitch.

personally, I love the people who "test you". they watch you turn the bar(s) off, can watch me turn my low beams on from high but, still want to flash me. I flash them the high beams once, and cover the light bar switch, flash me again... you get the full monte, and I dont shut them off. LOL! could be considered douchey but, hey... you were warned. Leave the scoop alone. You'll never get proper useable light from that location

Talk to @memario1214 and work out something useful, maybe with the Diode Dynamics product line.

At the least, upgrade the fogs to the Diode Dynamics selective yellow. Not for driving lights, but actual foul weather use.

Idk I’ve seen pretty good results from both pictures and videos around here.
This isn’t the best, but the first one I could find
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-3rd-gen-today.399305/page-8901#post-24427400
It obviously isn’t ideal placement but is definitely novel and functional.
Saying “never get proper useable light” seems like hyperbole to me. I’ve seen light bars mounted in much more useless locations
