Okay so I've been wanting to do something about the exhaust on my truck since I bought it. Obviously I'm NOT expecting V8 sounds - not going to happen with a V6. But I also didn't want the folgers can ricaroni sound effect either.

I initially ordered a Borla Catback System (Nearly $800). But after a month I was notified I'd have to wait even longer - so I cancelled. Found a couple YouTube videos of guys with Spintech 9000 Super Pro Street mufflers on their Tacomas. I had a Spintech on a 2003 Dakota R/T once and liked it.

Not wanting to be overly loud I went with the Spintech 6000 Pro Street (less than $300 shipped & installed). What's the difference? About 3 inches. The 9000 series is only 9" long and the 6000 series is 12" long. I specifically ordered the Spintech 6221 (2.25" Center In / 2.25" Center Out). You can see it next to the factory muffler below.

Here's how it looks under the truck!

And just for fun I photographed someone's custom drifter (Nissan 180?) sitting outside the muffler shop.

I compiled a video to compare before and after. Mind you my truck already had a K&N Cold Air Intake kit on it. So there's a bit of induction noise even on the stock system! Thought I'd share with folks so they can learn from my experience with Spintech on a Tacoma. In person you can definitely hear it from inside the cab. Glad I went with the 6000 instead of the 9000 which is said to be louder!

Anyhow, let me know what you all think. Sound is an objective thing granted and not all of us like the same thing. Hopefully this exhaust system will grow on me more over time.

Doesn't sound bad, a nice tone over stock.

Is there a sound thread, if not maybe we should create one?
