If you’re dead set on ruining the cool utilitarian look of the truck you bought, you don’t NEED anything else, but the can of worms will surely have been opened… Happy modding!

To be honest, probably not going to do it, just curious if I ever did want to lift it, what would the best options be. I know 2WD trucks are cheaper to lift. And no, I wouldn't add super wide tires, spacers, or squat the truck - I just simply would want to run pizza cutters and I know they don't fit stock. I'll probably just get some larger 265/75/16's and call it a day, just wanted to know the options.

People on here claim 255/85/16 fit on a stock suspension….

I found a post from someone with a 2021 or 2022 (can't remember), SR trim just like mine. He said he was rubbing big time on stock suspension and had to add a lift. I'll try to find the post, but it was in the thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-skinny-on-skinny-tires.529656/

From the 3rd gens in that thread that do run those sizes, looks like it rubs pretty badly. Not sure what offset they're running though.

They’re not cheaper to lift. It’s still struts and leaf springs and control arms and whatever else you want.

Yup read that one! Check this out. Apparently all it takes is a spacer and a good alignment for 255/85/17 which I do not under having tires that size myself

I ran 4" spindles and Dobinsons 3" coilovers on my 2nd gen prerunner for years. No issues as far as the spindles. When I went from 2" coils to 3" to get the alignment right I had to install some SPC UCA's.

No, your OEM wheels won't fit and you will have to get 1.25" spacers for your rear wheels.

I just picked up my new 3rd gen prerunner a few days ago, and the lift from my 2nd gen is going on it this week!

Ride quality will be the same as you keep the stock springs and shocks up front.

The page says you'll need 17" wheels with 4.75" backspacing or less. Something like stock 5th gen 4Runner wheels or TRD SEMA wheels would work. That also means 255/80-17 tires, not 255/85-16. Not necessarily a bad thing as 255/80-17 is more widely available.

255/85/16 Yoko Geolandars in E rated. Just had my third set put on in a year since I left. 2022 SR5 with the six and 4WD. Been in everything imaginable from Virginia through Canada, Alaska, and now in South America. Been stuffed lock to lock in any kind of terrain and no rubbing anywhere. No issues in reverse either. Running stock SR5 alloys at plus 25.

Oh and I’m on stock suspension no lift no nothing.

Do you have any pictures? So my pure stock SR, with stock steel 16" wheels will fit the 255/85/16 Yoko Geolanders no problems? No modifications or cutting, no lift?

This has been discussed many many times and many people have installed 255/85r16 tires without any other modifications.
