    Just out of curiosity, what can cause this type of failure? Can it just happen randomly?

    @roguegs

    From my analysis:

    Rocky fire road and high speed allowed for the forced vibrations to meet the natural frequency on the spindle causing reasonance which lead to the failure of the cracked spindle ring.

    Or it just was a shitty casting with impurities which lead to crack propagation and ultimately failure

    Or shit just got broke

    Just checked and the upper bjs are not driveable and the wheel bearing is frozen, but i can strip it and drop it off if need be.

    I do have a spc bj but it is from and 2010+ fj and wont fit.

    Reserected from the dead.
    If the wheel bearing is not included, it's not gonna do the OP any good. There is no way to use the old WB with the new spindle. You need a press to swap them out.

    If you can free up that froze bearing, it will at least get the op to civilization.

    I think there is a member who lives in Sonora CA with a first gen not far from that location. And yes a spindle without a working hub/bearing assembly is a no go for a trail fix unfortunately.

    Thanks for the offer, the transport for the spindle from the 97, was already planning to meet up with us.

    If for some reason we can get it up and rolling
    With the spindle that on it’s way we’ll use you and plan b and get the bearing swapped.

    We plan on returning Sunday so we have plenty of time
