Hey guys! I was changing my diff oil out when my buddy called me needed a jump. I finished up and threw the drain jug in the bed. Didn't think about it.

It turned over and spilled everywhere coating my entire bed with 1/2 an inch of oil. I spent like 20 minutes pressure washing it and it just won't come out.

I can't stand the smell. You can smell it from like 10 feet away from my truck and it's a mess. I can't put anything back there now.

What the hell will get rid of it? I can't use water because water just rolls off of the oil and it's like glued to my bedliner.

Water is useless on any oil base. You might try a degreasing solvent or a crap-load of brake cleaner.

That'll take a lot of brake cleaner! Start with a strong degreaser - even simple green. Soak & scrub with a broom and rinse well. It'll probably take several tries to get it done. Try and use hot water if you can.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
lol! Good luck man, Brake Clean is a safe bet and lots of it.

I have to be honest though, I thought you meant your BED, as in where you sleep. I thought to myself "WTF was he doing with Gear Oil in bed...lotion man! Lotion!"

Do not use brake clean, that'll eat off paint and bedliner. Just soak it with some purple power and hit it with hot water. First I'd get some powder absorbent stuff at a parts store to get most of it out.

    WHOA, slow down a minute....that bedliner sprayed or a drop-in ???

Either way You might try speedi-dry ;1) take that smell away quickly 2) once it gets most of it dried up enough to sweep the actual last cleansing will be cheaper...3) DO NOT drive around 1/2 a$$ed with that speedi-dry cloud having fun....the longer it sits the more it will absorb...

Just an Old Mans way of looking at things...

GOOD LUCK and hopefully the "Friend" can help...;)

What about some engine degreaser. I like the simple green idea also.

    I'll look into Simple green.

Also, I also have some in my actual bed. I mean... it reduces friction, right? :notsure:

DirtyDeedsIndustries long travel, King coil overs with King bypass up front. 3X16 triple bypass kings out back to dampen the Deaver SUA pack. Long tube headers with full race exhaust system. Too much to list.
The cleaning section in Home Depot has zep floor cleaner. This is a very high ph alkaline soap. Should cut right thru the gear oil and won't damage paint or bed liner.

Starting fluid from walmart is a great and cheap degreaser. 10 cans at $.99 each. It even takes grease spots out of the concrete on the driveway.

cat litter is cheap and good for soaking up big oil puddles, i use it on the garage floor sometimes haha.. for the rest i'd get a big container of engine degreaser/simple green type stuff, something you can buy in bulk. aerosol cans of brake cleaner works good but will get realllly expensive for an entire truck bed!

edit: ah whopper beat me to the kitty litter haha
