I believe there are 4 on the Auto trucks. 1 for each wheel.
The sensors send a signal to the Skid Control ECU.
The SC/ECU send the signal to the Combination Meter.

Do you have a Check Engine Or ABS Light on?

A scan tool capable of looking at live Sensor Data would help a lot.

    Get the code.

On a 2006 I would be looking at a worn wheel bearing causing contamination on the Magnetic Tone Ring and Sensor.

As others stated you really need the code number to continue but being you have an engine light and no ABS light it's likely referring to the vehicle speed sensor or one of the other speed sensors on the transmission, you may block the wheels and crawl under the truck and give all the wiring on the transmission a good look over for breaks, chafing, or corrosion.

Does your speedometer work? Here's some troubleshooting information for that code.

Hopefully it’s not the Gauge Cluster.
There’s been a few guys with this issue.
Most guys seem to say that if the scan tool shows No MPH or bounces around, it’s likely the Cluster.

I believe it goes like this for the Auto trucks.

Speed Sensor -> Skid Control ECU -> Cluster -> ECM -> Speedometer.

You’re not throwing any ABS or Wheel sensor codes. Bit that doesn’t mean they are not worth checking.
The cluster can be expensive and not the easiest to install.

Here is a good read on how one guy diagnosed his.
I couldn’t do this my self, I don’t have the proper equipment.
Maybe some one with a bot kore knowledge can help you out?

Close but according to the troubleshooter it goes: Speed Sensor > Skid Control ECU (ABS) > Combination Meter (Instrument Cluster) > Speedometer >Engine Control Module
So if your speedometer is working properly it's likely something between the Combination Meter and the Engine Control Module, if it's not then it's likely either something between the Combination Meter and the Skid Control ECU, or a Speed Sensor or related wiring.

Humm.....I get confused at - ECM determines speed.
It sounds like the pulse signal is relayed through the cluster to the ECM.
Not sure how the speedometer knows the speed before it gets to the ECM?
Unless there is a separate ECM that converts the signal for the speedometer?

I hope that I never have to deal with this issue, it can be a hassle to deal with.

    Automatic Transaxle Models:
Vehicles, which are equipped with ABS (Anti-lock Brake System), detect the vehicle speed using the skid control ECU and wheel speed sensor. The wheel speed sensor monitors the wheel rotation speed and sends a signal to the skid control ECU. The skid control ECU converts the wheel speed signal into a 4- pulse signal and transmits it to the ECM via the combination meter. The ECM determines the vehicle speed based on the frequency of the pulse signal.

BTW, I’m not disagreeing with you.
I just trying to figure out how it works exactly?
    Plus, help OP too!

The speedometer is in the cluster and controlled by it therefore it reads whatever the cluster sees from the ABS module, the cluster then sends a signal the the ECM based on vehicle speed. Most vehicles with this type of setup use only one of the wheel speed sensors for vehicle speed input but they don't always tell you which one as in this case I can't find any info on which wheel speed sensor is used for vehicle speed.

It seems like @Bishop84 said once?

It worth noting that some guys have had issues with the speed sensor harness and wiring for the rear wheels. Whether this would cause this code, I don’t know?

It seems like I read here somewhere that the transmission sensor supplies the speedo signal on the 4 cyl trucks. A few members have had the plastic gear wear out.
