Purchased a '23, TT SR5, last April. Trying to get the Speed limit display to work. (Please review the pics 1 to 4 below). Followed the instructions, hit the Return button, nothing. Contacted two dealerships, no success. Contacted Toyota HQ, they sent a couple of references along with links to manuals. What it came down to was this quote from the owner's manual: "Page 106 Speed limit display *Speed limit display may not be available for some regions."
I'm reaching out to anyone with this situation and/or who lives in the eastern North Carolina region, specifically Goldsboro, NC. Note: I visited northern VA a couple of times, same thing. How do we/I find out which regions are available? Thanks

Do you have the navigation option?
I think the posted speed limit of the road you are on (if that is what you are after here), is getting it's info from the navigation system.

I do have the nav package, and believe that was one of the first things I tried. With the nav on, went 80 mph in a 70 (shhhhh) and no alert or display indicating i went over the limit. I have a Dodge Ram Pro Master where i can set it to a certain limit (in increments of 5, up to 80 mph). I don't have a nav system on that van, but it works off of the speedometer, letting me know if if I've reached or exceeded the pre-set limit. This is what I'm looking into; to see if i can do this without the nav. Thanks.

If you can’t get it to work, you can just use Waze on apple carplay and you will have the speed limit, along with your current speed, on the main screen. Not perfect but a workaround for now.

What's wrong with the signs alongside the road?

Then you'd have to watch out for the signs and keep your eye on your speedometer!
Then it gets all complicated and sh*t
    /sarcasm/:)

Toyota.com says the signs are recognized by computer vision. Curious to how that relates to not working in some areas-- design changes?

On my dad's 23 Highlander a replica of the sign is shown on an HUD near the bottom of the windshield. Looks cool but disappears with polarized sunglasses.

"Using an intelligent camera, Road Sign Assist (RSA) * is designed to detect speed limit signs, stop signs, Do Not Enter signs and yield signs, and display an icon of the sign on the Multi-Information Display (MID)."

It works if you are equipped with RSA system (road sign assist)

I’ve never heard of this speed limit feature you speak of, but I know that Apple CarPlay maps shows the local speed limit (at least some of the time). It’s just a curiosity for me, because I have a habit of watching the signs and the speed of traffic. I assume Apple Maps uses a publicly available dataset for the speed limit info, which might not be available in all areas.

What years have rsa? I thought the info on the compass screen was pulled from the nav info. Edit: Checked the manual for my ‘19 and it is indeed for my truck
“Select to set the display of speed limit information stored in the navigation system (if equipped) to on with the speed limit caution indicator (yellow) enabled”

Idk, I tend to do 70 in a 75 simply because gas = expensive.

Wonder if that's only for newer models. My truck has this option (although I've never tried it before seeing this page) and does not have any sort of cameras in the front and was made before TSS was standard.

Toyota likes to make it confusing.

You have to be on the screen with the compass for it to show. Even then, not all roads will show a speed limit sign.

On my 23 taco I think there is an option for the speed limit sign to show in the corner of the built in nav map too

My 19, shows the speed limit sign and changes accordingly to different speeds in different areas. This is displayed in the lower right of the screen when using the direction/compass mode in the display (between the speedo and tach). No idea if it highlights for over speed or not. I’ve never paid any attention to it.

You can set it to highlight it. Also just noticed it only displays on the compass screen.
