I'm having problems with tightening my end-links of my 02 Pre-runner. Specifically the bottom one that is fitted to the lower control arm.

The problem is that the lower control-arm mount is shaped in a concave way that it doesn't allow a regular wrench to be in there after a certain amount of tightening. If I tighten it too much, it gets impossible for me to remove the wrench.

I managed to tighten it as much as it will let me so that I can get the wrench out, but there's still some play. Link to video of it: https://streamable.com/u4wzg7 (By the way, is it ok to drive the truck like this?)

I'm hoping some of you know of the name of the tool that is shaped like this to allow me to get in there. I tried googling to see if I could find one, but I keep getting regular wrenches.

    Too long didn't read.

I remember just undoing the nut on the outside with an impact.

Since then I threw away the sway bar.

I tried doing that, but the thing just spins with the ball joint itself. I need to have a wrench to hold it in place

Open ended wrench on the outside while using the appropriately sized allen inside?

I think that's what I did the second time I undid everything (when I replaced my LCA bushings).

can't do, I'm using these Moog end links that don't have a slot for an allen wrench. My truck also has the weird end links that I don't see much of online

Looks like a table saw wrench might fit.
I would get a big washer & cut it in half with a sawazall so it acts as a wrench.
Then you may be able to hold the washer with pliers/vice grips.

What does the other side of the link look like? I just did the wife's 06 Pilot and there was a spot on the "other" side where I could use a skinny box wrench.

other side of the link is just a flat metal surface. I wish it was like one of those links with an allen wrench slot in the back

Think I might just risk it and grip it with some pliers near the bolt's end. Hopefully don't damage the threads as much

Just where did those end links come from?? i can`t believe a wrench did not come with them.

If it was me I would machine a open end wrench to fit .

Even a grinder would do the job if it was all you have.

It would not be the first time I did something like that.

Got them from Amazon from a link someone gave me on here. They're definitely legit MOOG parts, but I'm thinking these are inferior to something from like Mevotech or Beck/Arnley on Rockauto

I think I finally got them tight enough, at least I think so. Used a big impact to really tighten them to the point where I didn't feel much play. I think there's still a small amount of play there, but at this point I don't think it really matters as much

did you see the video? I tightened them enough so that they don't do that, but I know they're not torqued to spec. The torque for these is pretty low anyways, like 14 ft-pound
