Does anyone have experience with this recent recall?

"Special Service Campaign 22TC01 - Multiple 2021-2022 Model Year Vehicles - DCM (Data Communication Module) Reprogramming"

    Status Remedy
    Available

    Description
Due to improper programming of the DCM (Data Communication Module), the component that provides cellular communication, it may not be possible for the driver and Safety Connect operator to hear each other's voices during a Safety Connect call in an emergency situation.

    Remedy
Any authorized Toyota dealer will update the DCM software FREE OF CHARGE.

    Campaign Date
    February 24, 2022

    Dealer Reference ID
    22TC01

I took my 2021 TRD OR in for an oil change and during scheduling the local dealer told me they needed to address this recall. There has been a problem with the head unit accepting the reprogramming, and they held my vehicle overnight. The dealer told me that "we called Toyota techs to help us resolve the issue, but they were not all that helpful".

My confidence is not overflowing. Any experience or guidance would be welcomed.

A quick update on this post. Toyota needed to send a code to enter the programming on the DCU (since I was not using Toyota Connect in the vehicle). It was not until the dealer kept it overnight that they found out and requested a code... then receipt of that code could "take up to 48 hours" and the "code had to be used within 24 hours of receipt". For a recall they potentially wanted to keep my truck for 3 days. As I told the local agent, this type of thing creates customer unhappiness and puts them in a bad customer service position. They offered a free loaner. I told them I wanted my truck back and they could do the update at the official 10K schedule. I also told them when I scheduled that maintenance I would remind them to request the code prior to my visit so they could get this done in a day rather than 2-3 days. I view this as a failure on Toyota's part to understand the variety of issues that could occur during any recall or software update, along with putting local dealers in potentially difficult service positions.

    Or it could be this…

    “STEVE,
We’ll keep this short. Because you share your good driving data with Toyota Insurance Management Solutions, you could upgrade the way you save with GEICO. That’s right, careful drivers like you could get additional savings on car insurance. Why wait when you could get a free, personalized quote today?”

I opted out long ago and drive fairly quickly, but keep getting the offers, something’s not right, lol.
