Im thinking about upgrading my stock speakers to the rockford fosgate speakers. Do I really need to buy speaker adapters and connectors to do this ? Or can you rig it without them. 50 dollar difference.

More than likely yes. Usually the magnet on the new speaker is larger and sit to deep into the door without them.

If the magnet is bigger wont they stick out further. Is there enough room to put the door back on? I never had the door off but the other post said he had to use them. Just wondering. Thanks peeps

The magnet sits inside the door. The speaker mounts to the adapter so you can mount to the door. W/o the adapter the magnet on some speakers can interfere with the glass as it goes up and down.

I had widened mine from the 6.5 to 6x9, but I did use the adapters and it makes like much easier.

You're correct re the larger magnet, which is one thing the adapter helps with..mitigating the extra space behind.

I installed them myself with no rubbing issues. The grilles the speakers come with are not used. I forget the model# but I did the same brand you're eyeing about 9 years ago.

If you're using the factory head unit, get the harness adapters as well. Eliminates any cutting of the stock stuff.

LMK if you have any other questions.

I did my front speakers last night, and the kickers 100% needed the adapters for spacing. You can DIY them from wood or cutting board plastic, and you can DIY the wiring. Depends how you value your time.
I got the adapters and wiring from the local Best Buy… quick and easy
