Hello! I have a question for those who own a Tacoma with a 2.4L engine. I am planning on changing the spark plugs on my 99 Tacoma, and I wanted to know which spark plugs people have used on their 2.4L that they recommend. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

I would just stick with the OEM copper plugs unless you have a modified engine (super/turbocharger for instance). I believe the OEM ones are the standard dual electrode Denso or NGK brand plugs.

I used Bosch platinums in my 2.7 years ago and it's still going fine.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
These are the plugs recommended for your 2.4

    NGK BKR5EYA

Any parts store should carry those

Thank you guys! I figured that the ones I would have to use would be the copper spark plugs, but I just wanted to make sure that those were the ones people have used or whether they upgraded and went with the double platinum or the iridium spark plugs. But, I'm pretty sure the copper spark plugs should be fine since my Tacoma is completely stock.

well, the only difference with coppper, platinum and iridium is their longevity. They don't give more HP or anything

Copper is the cheapest but they also have the shortest lifespan. They must be replaced at about 30k miles intervals
Platinum have a longer lifespan, needing to be replaced at about 100k miles
Iridium are the most expensive of the bunch, but they can last for 120k+ miles

but to answer your question, I used NGK iridium on my 2.7

oh and it is recommended you stick with Denso or NGK sparkplugs

Thank you onakat! I didn't know that I thought you only had to put the spark plugs it recommended (in this case copper spark plugs) or else the truck would run funny. I think I'll go with the NGK double platinum in the meantime and see how well that works for me. Thank you for your advice.
