I realize this isn't the right place to ask this, but with how active this thread is I thought I'd put it here:

For those of you living in road salt states, are you going with the powder coat offered by SSO, or ordering the bumper bare steal and having a local shop do something like bedliner?

I live in NE, and we do tend to get lots of snow and ice on our roads, although some of the anti slip stuff they put down is not salt, but it still can degrade coatings.

I've checked out Rino as well as Line-X applied by a local Lone-X specialty shop.
    1. Depending on what coating you are having them apply, it looks stupid to me when put on things like bumpers as it really doesn't keep the smooth contour or shape of the item, and has a sort of puffy look to it which I personally hate.
    2. The application costs way, WAY more (like hundreds more) than any reputable powder-coating shop charges.
It was an outrageous quote honestly, and for something that I hated the looks of.
I have gotten all of my AM bumpers/skids powder coated, and generally have been very happy.

IMHO, if SSO has gone this far, I would guess they are going to be using a high quality powder coating as well, so I'm going to go with the powder coating they are providing.

Thanks! I agree, I'm not a fan of the rough texture either. I'll have to look around to see if there's something with a more subtle texture.

I live in Lincoln, by the way.

Cool, went to UNL for a few years in my youth, and it was a fun college town.
I still like passing through from vacations with the wife...... I always hit up DaVinci's on the way home to Omaha, I have a sandwich addiction according to the wife, and a whole combo from DaVinci's is about as good as it comes.

All bumpers are powder-coated using a high quality powder coat that is better than what was being used before!

I did in fact take your suggestion, and sent and email to the info at SSO email.

    I got the standard reply:

"Hello and thanks for reaching out to us!

Your message has been received and is being reviewed by our support staff. You can expect a response within 1 business day!

To add additional comments, reply to this email.

That was two days ago on Nov 28th. I'm hoping to get an actual response at some point, as I really don't want to screw my order up by not having sent or responded to a email or some information I missed.

You have! Again, thank you SO much for all your effort on this project, as I know it can be a PITA for all parties involved. I just appreciate the effort put forth by SSO in all facets of this endeavour including regular updates both here and via email.

Glad to hear it. The powder coat on the Slimline Bumper I purchased from SSO in mid-2021 is already spotting after just two NE Indiana winters. Assuming you succeed in resurrecting the full product offering, and that I eventually want the increased wheel clearance, it'll be nice if the Stage 2 bumper addons won't require the same strip/recoat that the bumper is going to need in another year or two.

Good luck in your endeavor. It's interesting to see the updates as you progress.

Got the first part of my order!
My light bar and wiring harness came in, just as promised. I have much more confidence that my Taco bumper will be here also, just as promised. I know the new owners of SSO legally did not have to do what they are doing, so I for one am grateful they are in fact following up on all of this.

So, if I want a slimline bumper I should wait until all the current orders have shipped?

Obviously I can't speak directly for SSO, but I would assume whenever to placed your order, it would be made and shipped in the order received, depending on how many orders were ahead of yours.

You have the option to place an order now, which will put you in line. We are currently overproducing the bumpers, so your order will be shipped after the back orders are fulfilled. If you would like more information about the bumper, please feel free to send us an email and we will be happy to provide you with additional details.

I don't have a solid ETA but will have more info this Friday. I will share that once the production planning team provides the data to me.
