Looking for some window tint recommendations in the south bay area. I have a dclb with a camper shell and would like all the windows tinted. Ideally I would like the rear windows and camper shell windows not see through and the front windows the max allowable tint in California.

Need some recommendations on shops, tint types, and tint percentages. Also how much should I be expecting to pay for something like this?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Have used Carlos on other vehicles as well as many others in my neighborhood, never heard a bad thing said about him. Will be having him do my Taco soon. Also doesn't hurt that he comes to you!

Been to South Bay tinting in Torrance and had them do the fronts on my Tacoma with 3M 20%. Service was good and price was reasonable.

I always use Mr. Tint. They do good work, warranty their work, are fast, and reasonably priced and they've done warranty work for me. They're not the cheapest ( and not the most expensive ), but if get to them early in the day, they should be able to take you as a walk in, but an appointment is best. It might be a drive for you, but I always recommend them.

For the camper shell, you can do 5% and still have some light coming in or just black it out altogether. You can legally make it as dark as you want.

For the rear windows, i.e. back half of the cab, you can legally do 5% as well which is what I did on mine, but I did 35% on the rear sliding window since I wanted better visibility for my rear dash-cam. I do believe that you can actually use limo tint on the rear as well.

For the front driver and passenger windows, they will tell you that you aren't allowed to go below X% on them, but they'll install whatever you want with the understanding that if you get ticketed for it, it's on you and not not replaceable under warranty. That said, I did exceed the state requirement and went down to 35% and haven't had any issues. As long as you're not being stupid and bringing attention to yourself, PD's will not pull you over for that since they understand and most of them do it themselves. Any darker than 35% and you're running a higher risk of getting pulled over just for that.

Regarding the front windshield, CA only allows the top 4" to be tinted or blacked out. I got some cheap vinyl off of Amazon for $10 and did that strip myself. you could likely push 5" on that strip and not have an issue unless you got pulled over and the PD was looking for anything to stall or ticket you.

Thanks @Norsemanvike This info was very helpful considering I was really unsure about the darkest/safest limit for the front windows. I've always hear most people exceed the legal limit but wasn't sure how much.

I'll most likely be doing the same thing as you.

Carlos, I mentioned above in the second post, is coming to do my windows today. I am having him do 35% all the way around with the rears being 35% over the factory tint which is approx 20% I believe. I will post some pictures after he's done to give you an idea how it turns out.

    Sweet. Thanks in advance!

Looking forward to seeing how dark 35% actually is.

35% all the way around, including over the factory tint in the rear. $220 (cash only) for all windows, lifetime warranty, showed up to my house at 4 and was done at 530 and I will post his business card here for you as well. He did the windows on our raptor as well a year ago and they still look as good as new so I know these will hold up the same.

This is just what I'm looking for and that price doesn't sound too bad at all. I'll be hitting up Carlos within the next week or two.

    Thanks for all the help!
