I've been looking around and dealer inventory is pretty light here in eastern MA. Even large dealers only have 6 or 7 double cabs it seems. Even more scarce has been dealers willing to talk rough numbers with me without going into the showroom, which I simply won't have time to do for a short time.

Anyhow one dealership got in touch tonight and laid out some hard numbers. They were better than I expected. It's a 2007 double cab auto 4X4 TRD Sport package, short bed, with the roof rail things, and tow package, along with a couple of other small options...I forget them. MSRP is $30,995 and invoice is $27,119. She told me with the current factory rebate of $500 the truck would be right at $26,500. I wasn't expecting below invoice. Is this a good deal?

Of course, it's not exactly the truck I want. I think I would rather have the TRD off road package, and more importantly I want a long bed. They have a long bed DC incoming, which she told me would cost about $600 more, but she hasn't gottenback to me yet with its details (options, color, etc).

That is a pretty good deal. About 500 less than what i paid, but i have the off road package. My advice is this.... if you're paying that much for something, you need to get what you want. Besides, $600 is a drop in the bucket when you're spending that much. I was very specific about what i wanted and would not budge at all, not even on the color and i'm very happy with my truck. you can see my truck details on my signature and i paid 27K out the door. The truck they offered you is a good deal but don't take it if it's not what you really want.

I agree, I couldn’t find the exact truck I wanted so I had them make it for me. It took 4 months of very patient waiting but I really love my truck now and it was totally worth the wait. They are offering you a good deal though but I'd see if they could get you that same deal on exactly what you want, they should be able to either by trade or custom order. Good luck.

They got back to me yesterday. The longbed they have coming in is a double cab 4X4 TRD Sport with towing package, steering wheel audio controls, and a couple of small options...bedmat and exhaust tip IIRC. It's even silver w/ gray interior, which is exactly what I want. Sticker is $31,054 and she told me she'd sell it for $27,300, and then the current factory rebate brings it down to $26,800 before tax and license/registration fees.

I like the way they do business because I head into the deal knowing the price and interest rate, and now we just negotiate on what I'll get for a trade-in. Less places for them to hide $$$.

Another dealer got back to me with this:
This is tempting because the only item of the TRD Sport package I really care about other than the SR-5 stuff is the LSD. I also like the 17" wheels better and they look easier to clean, but the 16" alloys aren't bad looking at all. I also really don't need the towing package, but like the idea of the extra coolers and stuff, and with growing boys someday to have their own ATVs, it could be needed in the future. Not to mention, this one is in stock....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Thank you for this info. I know it is about 3 months old, but at least it gives me an idea as to what they COULD take for the truck, even here in texas. I am looking for a silver trd, w/towing, 6 disc. I will offer 2.5-3k under msrp out the door and see what they say;)
