Hi all, I need help deciding between two head units. I was almost dead set on the Sony XAV-AX100, but then pioneer just announced three new head units. Their mid-range one (W6400NEX) sounds very enticing. I like the price of the Sony ($350) versus the Pioneer ($800). The Sony does both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but it doesn’t have CD playback or an auxiliary input whereas the Pioneer does. The Sony does have a physical volume knob, which is awesome. In fact, I think it’s the only CarPlay head unit that has this feature. However, the Pioneer has physical volume up/down buttons, which is pretty nice as well. The Pioneer also does wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto which is huge. What’s everyone else’s take on this? I don’t think there are reviews of the Pioneer yet. I was hoping to order my head unit some tome in the next month.

I've been looking at new head units myself... what did you end up going with?

Hey I actually haven’t ordered anything yet. I’m still trying to figure out what I want. I have to go out of the country for work for a few weeks in the next few days, so I won’t be able to install anything until July at this point, but I’m open to suggestions that anyone may have.

Bump... anyone have any thoughts? I’m seriously considering pulling the trigger on the more expensive Pioneer, but I haven’t even seen one review for it yet.

    Kenwood isn't an option?

Do they have a good Apple CarPlay unit that has physical volume controls? If so, do you have the model number? I’d love to look it up. I’m open to suggestions outside of what I had here, but this is what I saw that met my criteria initially.
