Hoping the hive mind can help as im stumped. So a few months ago i installed a JL Audio VXI 4 channel amp and it is working perfectly. During the initial VXI install i couldn't connect the remote wire so i jumped it and then used the turn on signal. also bought at the time a Skar audio loaded sub enclosure and Skar 500.1 D amp. I installed the sub but since the amp didn't fit under the seat at the time of vxi install, i decided to wait on the sub. Flash forward to today. My current set up. Finally today i got the sub amp installed attached the remote turn on wire to the vxi remote out and no power. I jumped it so the sub amp turned on but no sound. Signal appears to be sending from vxi but the amp turn on isn't working. Assume maybe the remote is pass through? Maybe i need to attach the VXI remote input to a 12v? But even when i jump the sub amp i get turn on but no sounds?

I would bet it’s a simple switch or an output setting that may have been overlooked, or maybe something not connected to the right spot; when i installed under seat subs, that was all i needed to do, but i was underwhelmed at first that nothing happened other than a blue light being on until i pressed a certain switch on the sub and turned on output in the head unit.

If you checked all the obvious things / outputs and check readings with a multimeter, to ensure power and signal exist, then i wouldn’t know what else else to try though.

Yep, we can't see voltage, so a multimeter check on the wire would a good first step.

Also, can you post some pictures of your connections, or better explain what went on here?:

So you don't have a key-power/ignition turn-on signal, you jumpered it to +12v, and programmed within the amp to auto-on, and are then using the amps auxillary 12v output to attempt to trigger the all-in-one amp, but don't have voltage?

Is the vxi properly programmed? I'm not familiar with the vxi programming, but many times those output options are disabled by default to prevent commonly unused connections from shorting out if people leave the wire loose.

Also, you didn't state where you're getting the audio signal to the skar. Is that being generated/output by the vxi as well?

Thank you for responding. Im an idiot i had mixed up the power and remote connection at the sub amp. Things are now working great.
But yeah for the vxi i didn't have the correct tap a fuse to connect the remote input so i jumped it for initial turn on and the changed it to auto on with signal. The VXI also has a remote out to connect to a second amp and i inadvertently had that connected to the 12v power instead of remote connection on the sub amp so it wasn't working. The VXI has preouts via rca connected.to the sub amp. Once i fixed that all is working as it should

Thanks for your feedback. I inadvertently had the power and remote connected to the wrong inputs on the sub amp. Can't believe i missed that. Lol!

I’m no expert either but if you do your on work and have trouble. 9 times outta 10 it’s always something simple.
