so i took the center console aprat to re route the USB/Aux cable to the actual center console and allowing the space it was in to be used for an "air on board" OEM switch for some lights...

trying to drive to the auto parts store that is 4 blocks away... and the truck will not shift out of park....?????

I'm pretty mechanically inclined and have repluged all the plugs to insure that was not the cause of the problem. So the "RCSA" and traction control are plugged back in... the console is still removed...

    What am I missing?????

Sounds like you're missing a center console :p

But really, there should be a little pinhole on the shifter or right by the shifter that you can poke a thin whatever in that should let you shift out of park. Can't remember off the top of my head where it is though.

Glad it worked for you. Sometimes if you're parked on a hill things can get locked up and sometimes little electrical gremlins just decide to play games.

Take this with a grain of salt, as I am a new Tacoma owner, but could also be the shift brake interlock. That button you depressed is somewhat of a bypass of that interlock safety to allow you to temporarily get your vehicle repaired and not stuck somewhere. I would think if you have the console out and we're working in there you might have disturbed/unhooked part of that system.

Maybe you left the shifter assembly disconnected. There's a connector to it I believe.

When my truck did this I was using my neighbors dual axle trailer, his trailer connector was wired wrong and that blew the fuse causing the truck to not shift out of park.

The fuse in question would be the IG1 NO2 Fuse. It is inside on the left of the steering wheel behind the change tray and rated at 10 Amps.

Verify that the connector for the shift lock solenoid has been reconnected.

So after a few more searches and some investigating here is where i am at on this..

-All fuses good; both visually and with multi meter
-I can hear the relay behind the dash engage when I try to shift out of park.
-Brake light switch appears fine and all lights on the truck function normally.
-I can hear a click or switch activating in the lower portion of the shifter mechanism as i move the shifter to the right, but it still will not come out of park unless I use the override button.
-With the override button depressed it moves through all the gears as it is supposed to.

truck is 6 months old... I'm to the point I'm gonna take it to the stealership and let them figure it out. I didn't touch a dang thing in there so this is REALLY baffling me.....

Switch the ign1 fuse with a another known good one just for kicks and see what happens.

If what he said is true it likely isn't a fuse... Just sayin..

    Yes, somewhat

Driving home after flying last night at 03:00 I tried to engage cruise control and the light just flashed.... looking it up now actually.

Side note... when I turn off the bed lights I installed and used a "add a circuit" to the "power outlet" fuse the audio turns off on my head unit; everything else stays on. Best i can figure is I shared a common ground with whatever is grounded at the bottom right side of the center console... with the relay for the switch.

NOTHING what so ever indicates that the cruise control/shift lock/ and audio would be in any way associated to the "Power outlets"????
