Has anyone successfully used both together? or at least have a tonneau cover on while the softopper side bars are still installed?

I had a bestop and oem cover. I had to choose between both. So I kept the bestop. The rails would interfere with the cover.

Figured that was the case, wondering if there's someone that might have figured out some kind of way of doing both.

I keep the factor tonneau on full time, but remove it in favor of my Softtopper for long road trips. I have no issues with the rails when using the Softtopper.

Are you able to keep the softopper rails on the bed while you have the tonneau cover or do you have to dismantle that?

Its up to you, but I would see if you can make something out of wood pieces as a three piece folding tonneau? The issue everyone else is saying is that the tonneaus on the market are designed to safely seal your bed. By not having access to penetrate the bed to route the sides on the bed rails is what is going to limit you.

My suggestion would be to copy the functionality of a three piece folding tonneau, but make it where the sides didn't go all the way to keep the softtopper hooked up. I would see if you could attach little rubber 2 inch thick pieces on the sides of the tonneau sections so that they could overlap the gap on the sides where the bed rails are. From there, just fashion some sort of locking mechanism and bam you have a somewhat sealed tonneau cover. At the end of the day, the soft topper is going to keep the majority of what ever is underneath it clean and dry so you may not need to even add the rubber pieces I was describing. I did something similar like this for a portable runway for my rc airplanes and I think the project cost me about $40 total.

No, I remove them but it takes only a couple minutes to unbolt them.

Your going to need full bed rail access to safely mount a Soft top be it a Bestop/Softopper. The Softopper exclusively uses bed rails for mounting.

The Bestop uses clamps that go into the rails for mounting. It will be the only one you can fab a custom setup for in all likelihood.

Only way I can see it working is buy some KB Voodoo bed rail covers, drill custom holes through both covers and your Bestop mounting rails and then bolt it down that way instead of using rail clamps.

I don’t see the point of using Soft top and a tonneau in tandom. Seems like you’d be better off with a fiberglass top and a garage hoist if quick removability and security is the issue.
