You guys that have the softex... do you like it? Any complaints? How is it holding up over time?

I'm interested in hearing any thoughts/comments regarding softex vs cloth.

Is the leather on the Taco Softex? I know the 4runner guys werent having many issues with it, some had decent mileage on theirs without excessive wear.

Leather and softex will both show wear faster than cloth though. Have you considered clazzios? That way when the leather wears you still have the cloth underneath, also costs a fraction of what the factory leather option does. Premium package should really only be considered for the sun roof, leather is cheaper and better with aftermarket.

So far, I really like the softex. I only have 1k miles on my truck, but I feel it's a great material. Very similar to leatherette (Audi) or MB-Tex (Mercedes) that I've experienced. It's easy to maintain, feels great and I expect it to be very durable over time assuming its taken care of. I am curious to see how it looks/feels after 50k or 100k.

My personal opinion is that the softex would be easier to maintain. I find that "stuff" doesn't get embedded in the synthetic leather materials as easily as it does fabric. A quick vacuum, followed by a combo leather cleaner/conditioner like Sonax Leather Foam should keep it in great shape. Alternatively you can take the same approach with fabric, replacing the cleaner/conditioner with a fabric cleaner, but you'll often need a brush to pull embedded stuff out of the fabric and allow it to dry afterward.

Having experienced a number of different German leather and faux-leather materials I will say I would pick the faux-leather, softex in this case, every time. Materials like Silk Nappa Leather are great and look fantastic, however, there is more upkeep and (in my experience) more degradation over time on areas like the bolsters.
