I bought a used 2010 Tacoma TRD sport 2WD with 95k on them. They have the Blue/Yellow Bilstein shocks front and rear, not sure which model but i would guess the 5100's? I need to take the tires off and check this weekend.

Anyways, by no means are they bad, but I would definitely like to get some new shocks that can help with rattling and shaky rides. I have been in other friends tacomas and for some reason they always seem to be a lot smoother. I know tacomas are lighter trucks and tend to be a little more bumpier and rattly. Any advice or knowledge on shocks and even tires if that help much?

I currently have BF goodrich All terrains and Bilstein shocks (not sure the model but they are yellow and blue)

I dont have a problem with these shocks/ tires when im riding around dirt roads and what not. Mostly just want to smooth out my daily driving around streets and freewats, which is 90% of what i use the truck for.

Just got back from a Joshua tree camp trip so its a bit dirty.

Those are the Bilstein 4600s. They come in the stock TRD sport/off-road packages.

    Yeah what he said. lol

The 5100s will be better off road and a bit better on road. The softer shocks/struts will probably be the sr5 ones they are the black ones, but wont be as good as those 4600s off road. Depending on how much money you want to spend you could get coilovers/shocks with compression adjusters.
A friend of mine just got some fox 2.5 with compression adjuster and they are like butter, but like $2,000...

I think the 5100s will be good for your driving.

Those are the stock 4600 series bilsteins!

Lots of suspension options from $50-$5000.

Thanks, I think 5100 are the ones for me then. I am not interested in any lift, I like my truck stock looking, I just want better suspension option for driving mainly 405 and streets. Occasional camping trip couple times a year, but nothing crazy like real off roading.

What about tires? I have all terrains but i feel like i dont really need them, I live in La county so the most we get is some rain.

I would like to have a bit wider tire, something that reaches out to flush with the stock fender, but the look is not the priority, more interested if a wider tire will help with a more stable ride , maybe on turns?

Thanks ! Yea i would love some compression but i dont want to spend more than 500 on this, its definitely not that bad for a truck.

5100s have my vote so far , i look on offer up / craigslist for some

Moving down to a 16" wheel while keeping the same rolling diameter can help soften the ride too.

Also....the springs on the Sport are a bit stiffer as well, I believe

Watched the 5100 video, sounds like those are the best bang for your buck for my needs.

What about springs for the front though? do i use the factory springs that came with my 4600?

Ew the 405... I drive it everyday too...
I like those "bfg a/t" you have they have a newer model "bfg a/t ko2". If your looking for new tires you could get more of a street oriented tire. There are tons of tires you could get in the stock just start looking up some. I'd get a Light Truck (LT) load C rated tires for your rig I don't really like Passenger car (P) rated tires on trucks, but they will usually be softer and lighter.
You either need wheel adapters or different rims with more back spacing.
This is an old video using the stock wheel/tire on an TRD off road.

Whats the next best thing after 5100's for my needs ? Or is the 5100's just perfect for everyday driving no crazy offroading stuff.

400 bucks for the 5100 pair which isnt bad, but if i can find something better for a 100 bucks more i would be willing to. Just not as familiar with shocks like most of you are.

Are these spacers safe ? Im guessing they attach on the wheel? I read something earlier on using spacers for the shocks was really dumb.

I guess it's not as "safe" and can ware out your wheel bearings, but I had them on my fronts and rear for a while and they are on my rear currently while I beat on my truck.
Just don't buy cheap ones. Get some Spidertrax or Bora and install them correctly.
2" Bora wheel spacers on the rear. Haven't had any issues with them.

I wouldn't say shock spacers either on top of the coilover or spring preload spacer are dumb, but I wouldn't recommend using them lol. I've put a spacer on top of the coilover on my friends tacoma, but made some extended bump stop mounts for him so they would never bottom out.
    Here's a good read.

I would jump on that TRD Pro Bilstein kit that's on clearance pricing. If you can find some. Might be all sold out but worth a shot. About 600$ gets you 6112/5160 equivalent TRD suspension.
