I don't know if anyone will ever use this but I couldn't find anything on it so i figured I'd throw this out there. It is possible to mount a soft topper over a roll n lock bed cover, it takes a couple of modifications to the soft topper but no extra drilling or cutting to the truck if you want to swap from soft to roll n lock it takes about 15 minutes to break everything down or set it up.
My reasoning for this was that i love the roll n lock for security and long term storage of all my camping gear (i throw it under the box and put a 2x10 in front of it to bolt random stuff too) But my wife and i love to camp out of the bed and out truck bed tent was just a pain in the neck to set up in the woods as well it is not suited to any kind of movement as far as driving goes so if we wanted to overland it was a hassle to set up and take down constantly.
    What i had to do:
    • I had to cut about a 10 inches off the soft toppers rails, just enough to get the rail to sit flush without interfering with the roll box.
    • next I cut the clamp points about an inch wide right in the middle of the top of the existing opening ((this allows the use of larger c clamps (i used 4 inch tall 3 inch deep) to get around the existing cover.))
    • I then modified the c clamps front nose (grinded off about 3/4 of an inch) so it would stick past the clasps of the soft topper i also cut off one of the ends of the c clamps swivel at the bottom so i can turn it easier without the 1/4 inch nub rubbing on stuff)
    • I added a velcro line to the top of the roll box for the back window attachment
    • and lastly i put the 2 clasp mounts that were cut off with the back 10 inches into the side of the roll box so it would be taut all the way around.

Here are some not so amazing pics of it ( the pic of the side is before the last clasp was installed so it now fits closer to the cab and is taut)
