I found quiet a few pages on a bed rack over a soft topper, but I was wondering if anyones made a custom soft topper that they put on over their bed rack.

Ex. I’ve got leitner bed racks with the cargo boxes but let’s say I wanted a little more covered storage. I could take off the cargo boxes, snap on/Velcro on some soft top cover panels and have an entire bed.

feel free to mock my search ability and point me to the right pages…

It would have to be custom made and would likely need some additional bows to make the material tight and not flapping around. Probably be pretty expensive to get that done with heavy duty material.

UpTop overland makes a rack that goes over a softtopper, but sound like you already have the rack system.

What are you trying to add coverage to, cargo wise?

There is some where on these forums a few postings of a DIY soft topper that is sewn up from material similar to the Softopper.
Trials and tribulations, Hints and tips etc. PICTURES TOO!

Keep searching. Try the Softopper threads, there is more than one.

To be honest, looking at the leitner system, since the cross rails are wider than the base, you could build some brackets to push the legs out wider and taller. The support braces are kinda funky so you'd also have to make brackets to reposition those as well. Other products that act as an exoskeleton to a soft-topper are the upTop I mentioned and Victory 4x4 apparantly.

Course, you mentioned that you want the rack to be an endoskeleton style, in which case I think you might have to pioneer that path and sew something up and show us.

What's your reasoning to turn your rack into a covered wagon?
