Hello. I’m a new truck guy. Just got my Taco a few months ago. I love it. It’s a TRD Off-Road 4-door short bed. I want to get a soft cover for the back. But I look at the one that Toyota HAD (PK3B1-35G5S) and it is discontinued. Anyone know what replaced it? I’d like to stick with Toyota brand but don’t want to spend a small fortune on a hard shell or anything that will take a while to open and close. I’m willing to consider other brands if anyone has any recommendations. But I can’t spend more than $699 on

If your budget is $699 I’d highly recommend the Truxedo Pro X15, looks great with the low profile fit and matte fabric. Mine has been great

Also congrats on the new truck and welcome to the forum

I would imagine you can buy just about the best soft cover out there for $700 bones! But you might want to consider scouring CL and FBMP for a used hard cover. You can sometimes pick up smoking deals going used.

Thanks for the feedback. I don’t want a hard cover. I really only want the soft one.

I second this. Installed mine in 2021 and have nothing bad to say, it’s an excellent product.

Two in stock at time of posting. The OEM soft trifold is the bee knees! I love mine and I’m super glad I got one now that they’ve discontinued it. IMO all the aftermarket ones really look like they’re aftermarket, the OEM just looks better. Quality materials, easy to use/install/remove etc. and honestly it keeps my bed way more dry than most complaint posts on here. People seem generally disappointed in the sealing capabilities of every tonneau cover. I’m not looking for 100% seal (some are though, and you won’t get it) but I’d say mine is always “totally dry”. Very few have the OEM soft cover, which is a shame but I guess makes me cool? Are we still following hipster rules? Lol

Good luck OP! Get I hope you get one!

I'd contend OEM is not really a thing with stuff like covers. They may have one single offering (such as their hard cover or the soft cover you and the other post mentioned), but aftermarket is almost always going to be largely superior in quality for your dollar and with way more variety of options.

I thought that too until I owned a soft one.

But if that's what you're set on, it's not terrible - I just didn't like the lack of security and I didn't like the slight "flappiness" movement of vinyl when you drive.

    This is what I had:

    https://realtruck.com/p/gator-sfx-tri-fold-tonneau-cover/v/toyota/tacoma/2021/

Other than the above shortcomings inherent to all vinyl soft covers, I liked it a lot - looked good and held up for years in the Las Vegas sun and winter snowboarding trips. Took it through car washes no problem, pretty water-tight. Super quick and easy to remove/install entirely.

I've got this same cover on my truck. Over 3 years, looks like new, goes thru the car wash and I live in AZ.

Good cover for a reasonable price.

I have the Extang Trifecta. Between my father and I, we have had Trifectas on 5 different trucks. I use the 2.0 Signature Series which is the matte canvas instead of the vinyl/fake leather that a lot of covers use. It will look better after years of use than the vinyl that starts too crack and peel.

I have the GATOR SFX for my 23 TRD Sport - works great - no complaints so far.

    Also from Real Truck

I will, i think by now, 4th the recommendation for Gator soft covers. Save your money, i spent $250 on mine on Amazon and it has impressed me for the year i have had it on the truck. The cover itself feels quality.

Another reason soft covers are better than hard covers is the lack of multiple seams across the middle of the bed!

One other thing to keep in mind - a roll up soft cover will give you access to the entire bed, where some tri folds will not
