WOW okay...I'm local to uptop. Wonder if i can get drew (I think) to just sell me the cover. At this point I don't think my radio is using anything in that shark fin that I actually use...

I have a Tepui HyBox (hardshell) on my short bed. Mounted on Yakima Overhaul HD bars (great bars, i saw someone else had them in this thread). its larger than my bed so the choices were to either have about 8 inches of overhang on the back and make it flush with the cabin OR center it over the bed/raise it over cabin and have 4in of overhang on each side). I went with the latter for weight distribution on the bed. I really like it.

    Set up: 1-2 minutes
Takedown: 5 minutes alone / 3 min with friend

if you just want to shorten your cover, can always look at one of @Anderson 's replacement covers:
    https://totallyradproducts.com/

I have one and it was an easy install and is OEM quality.

Yes, the retrax is mounted to the stock bed rails, and the Yakima bars are mounted to the retrax.

Yeah about 2 ft. Its the same length as the top of the camper they make. Just a bit thinner.

    Like, so many.
Maybe we’ll be seeing more innovation in this area. I’d like one that fits a short bed.

Diggin' both set ups. However, i do prefer the look of the non-hardtop

I added 3-1/2” overall. I have a decent amount of space between the RTT and the fun. You could probably go tighter than I did, but I wanted some space for the flex between the cab and the bed.

OP, I have a Skycamp Mini mounted on a Greenlane Offroad bed rack, with ~2in of lift and 265/75R16 tires (31.5 in). The tent sits very slightly higher than the roofline of the cab but I still have several inches at the low point in my parking area which is 6ft 10".

I can grab an exact measurement and some pictures tomorrow if you'd like. I did the math and with my current setup I could still fit with 35s and 3in of lift.

Expensive and I hate myself for how seriously I am considering one.

The original build for the truck was to be the most utilitarian vehicle possible for all my hobbies. Somehow I ended up with a rack and softshell rtt. Cheap at the time but I've started loading more gear. Started to think of an ARE cx-hd with reinforcements for a RTT pairing that with a similar rtt to the gfc one to clear my garage. Well turns out that's literally the same price as a base GFC. So here I am..awake at 2 am scouring the interwebs for info to see if this will fit in my garage with a lift and 33's...

Being the rtt is not that old why upgrade to a hard shell ? Basically your just getting a hard cover over your tent ...it’s a waste of money imo . If yours has no issues stay with that .

I've decided to go hardshell for next year. After 2 trips this month where I've had to take down and setup my tent 5 times each in the rain.

SICK of tucking and folding and and tucking

I like my soft RTT, the only complain is the flapping noise when its windy during sleep time.

People here have already mentioned the quicker setup but to me the biggest benefit of a hard shell wedge-style RTT is that you can point the shell at the wind and actually sleep through a windy night. I don’t think I could deal with a soft non-wedge-style tent.
