+100 on the HF jacks. I am not sure about the Daytonas, but a reminder if you get the HF Pittsburgh jack to make sure to get a bottle of jack oil and fill/bleed the jack before use.

I personally love my Dayton jacks. I have 2.
    One 4 ton for home
and one 1.5 ton in my bed
I know too small for our trucks but I've lifted the whole front of the truck and held it the whole night in a test I did, and to change a tire one every couple of years on the trail I think it will do.

Do you have some suggestions? Even Snap-On jacks are made in China.

Just did that very thing last weekend. I bought the 3-ton stands, got them unboxed, and realized they maxed out about a half inch higher than my frame. Took them back Sunday, and swapped for the 6-ton.

3 tons have their place. I use them when working on the car or for lifting the rear axle. I keep a pair of 6 tons for the front and when doing work on the trailer.

Also a heads up for everyone because the way jack stands ratings are legitimately criminal.

Jack stands are typically rated per pair. So a 6 ton pair is the total weight that pair can take - aka 3 tons per stand.

People literally die because of this.

    I did not know that.

However, I also never trust my limbs to any stand. If I'm pulling wheels its usually double redundancy - jack plus stands, and no body parts are allowed underneath the vehicle. If body parts are going under the vehicle then the car is either on its own wheels or there is a triple redundant system in place. Usually 2 jacks, 6 stands, AND a strategic placement of wheels or ramps. The idea is that if I couldn't survive if a sumo wrestler took a flying leap towards the car's b-pillar, then I don't crawl under.

snapon jacks made in china? since when? /sigh

also, dont bother with pittsburgh. harbor freight by definition is 'cheap' but you dont wanna go TOO cheap.

you want the daytona.. that means the low profile AND long reach model. i have it, its awesome. it was a tad low on oil when i got it, pick up some jack specific oil and top it off. itll also get corvettes off the ground just fine.

The spindle is disconnected from the LCA, lifted upward, and resting on the jack stand to get everything out of the way. I've done this a million times depending on the work being done.

I assume there's another jackstand under the frame to the right/outside of the picture.

Already answered, but I do this too. When everything is disconnected you really don't want it dangling by the brake cables.

The former went out of business years ago and the latter is owned by a Taiwanese company that manufacturers their jacks in China.

Just to head off anything else, the only jacks I know are made outside of China are from AC Hydraulic. Those are made in Denmark and have a price to match.

I have an old Pittsburgh 2.5 ton low profile jack from HF. I work on cars as a side business so its been used at least several times a week for the past 10 years or so and no issues. If it dies tomorrow, ill probly go grab another similar one from HF
