I am new to this site. I live in Maine and am wondering if there's a consensus as to the best snow tire. I have a 2020 Tacoma sport.

I don't know if anyone can really tell you what the "best" snow tire is. But just about any winter/snow tire will be miles ahead of an AT tire...particularly in hard packed snow, slush and ice.

Personally, I use Firestone WinterForce in a 265/75/16 on some OE steelies bought off CL.

    Consensus LOL
Welcome to TW - inb4 20 pages and Blizzacks being the overwhelming favourite. Nokians a close second.

I run General Grabber Arctic LTs cause off roading. They’re excellent.

    welcome aboard Thomas.

What kind of snow tire were you using up there in Maine, prior to buying your truck?

My Duratracs come with the 3 peak snow designation. Sold off my dedicated winter tire package that came with the truck.

BUT, I dont do much Highway driving.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta SUV R2's, they have an updated R3 now. I will definitely be buying these again. Excellent tire.20220101_154300.jpg

Factory studded winter radials mounted on rims. Not AT's. We run Hakkas but have liked Blizzaks too. I don't think you go too far wrong with any decent winter tire. YMMV. Cheers.

I'm running Toyos right now, g3 ice. Love em so far, I've also had great experiences with Michelins and Yokohamas in the past.

Third winter running General Grabber Arctic LT. One of the few true Winter tires that doubles as a reasonable All Terrain, rather than the other way around. Also a fantastic tire in deep snow.

Blizzak or Nokian. Best studless tires made. I’ve lived in tahoe for 20 years. These are what you need.

Blizzacks or Nokians and you're golden, but depends on the type of winter weather you get; dry snow or more packed snow and ice.

I like blizzak's but drive a lot in Minnesota and as a north Dakota resident. I'm exempt from their studded tire ban for now. But political regulations are subject to change so I'm legal either way. The problem with studded tires are they get thrown if not installed properly plus they are noisy at hiway speeds.

I’ve been on Toyo Observe G3’s for 4 winters now and love them. I really liked Gislaved’s also but these Toyo’s are better IMO.

Have run General Altimax with studs, which are great.

Firestone Winterforce studs, which also worked well, but tend to be squirmy on grooved interstate pavement.

On Blizzaks now, damn near good as studs if you get the right pressure…were just “ok” at 32 psi, fantastic at 30 psi. Have a couple hundred pounds in the bed too. Ran around all day today on packed snow and ice only in 2WD.

My duratracs were amazing in snow, even in 2WD. Wish I could find some duratracs in 275/70/17s around here…
