SNOW on donner pass in May ??

For those wondering how much snow fell on i80 donner pass on Saturday.......

Yea I know lol however I was not intending on being stranded on the summit for 24 hours lol I drive a big rig and I had seen the forecast and I drive the pass once a week, but never had seen anything that significant this late in the year so I went for the pass anyway. I got up the hill and then got pulled off at the summit rest area and had to ride it out.

 

Caltrans ended up having to come clear out the rest area with a grader to free me , and to push out the guy parked next to me who was stuck.

 

Understood: Just joking ya! The 7th of May is crazy for that snowfall, even in Donner.

 

Had a pretty good cornice going on my trailer lol

 

The Donner Party is dying to have you for dinner.

That much snow should make for a nice summer at the lakes.

From what I understand lake tahoe got more than where I was even

So got back to Utah and apparently Utah has received even crazier snowfall than donner and getting more today!! Brighton, the ski resort I board at has videos up with waist deep powder!!
