Anyone have any suggestions on how to remove a big turtle from a window well? I own pomeranians, so I am definitely not manly enough to just grab it. It’s probably 20 pounds, and doesn’t seem very happy. Would animal control handle something like this? Or is there a turtle hitman I can hire? I’m in Arvada, Adams county side if that helps. I live across from a reservoir, so I’m sure that is where it came from.

Call wildlife in your area and they will take care of it.

Cool. I have no idea if that is a city thing or county thing, but I can Google that. Growing up in Denver always made that so much easier… I just wasn’t sure if it would be more of a “pest control” kind of thing.

Idk about that, but this guy hates turtles. Might be your best bet?

You can use a shovel or rake handle. Put the non-tool end down into the window well and let the turtle "snap" onto it and then lift it out. Getting it to let go of the handle is a bit trickier.
ETA: Get it close to the reservoir or a grove of trees and walk away for a while. Let it release and move on at its own pace. Retrieve the garden tool later.

This or the other link. Snapping turtles, they can be a handful especially in a confined space and when they are not happy. Their head can reach almost to their tail. Growing up on the east coast we dealt with then a lot and a lot of people went about it the wrong way and paid for it.

Given your manliness concerns, perhaps make a trail of lettuce leading up a makeshift ramp into the back of your Ridgeline. Then go let it free somewhere. :D
