So back on Jan 19th I was making a left turn and a mini van got the front passenger side.

On the ride home the what was 12 oclock on the wheel was more like 1:30, I limped it home and took it to the body shop the next morning.

Got it back on Feb 8th, but on the ride home the next day, got it up to 60ish and it started to shake and make a noise. Slow down to 55 and it went away. Drove it back to the shop and they took it out and confirmed there was an issue still. Every one agreed a broken belt in the tire would cause this and they kept the truck and ordered a tire. At some point in the next few days they took it to the Toyota garage and a few days later I got it back with a wheel bearing replaced and new sneaker. So this plus 4500 bucks for body work and the alignment later I have my truck back on the 17th of February.

Just realized I don't really have any good photos of the of the passenger side. I'll work on that.

But I did get to put this on today.

Very sorry to hear the sad news. It is difficult to tell but it looks like the bracket survived the collision. If not then let me know and I can either fix it or replace it for you.

I guess it is no-drill, but attaches at the bottom. Did you make it or buy it?

TW sticker? Thought those were unicorns.

Jealous of that snow. Can't wait to get my truck back home for it in a few years.

Looking for some softoper help from other 3rd gens.

The back flaps up a little and I have read about others doing a few different things to stop this. I remember Velcro, magnets and some protective strip. Any thoughts out there?

Ok, time for the almost 1 year, 10k mile review.

Over all love the truck, nothing to complain about. Clutch squeaked when temps were under 50ish, so we will see if it returns.

Ordered the truck about a year ago, for the annual trip we just did. We spend about a week camping up at Moosehead, and the ride was getting cramped and the 4 banger sucked up the gas getting there and back.

This year we had plenty of space, pulled the trailer with ease. No matter if I'm towing or not, the 17 doesn't like the highway (going 70-80) when it comes to gas. But take it on roads 40-60, and it gets great mpgs. And towing the trailer sucked up some fuel, but I don't think it used as much as the 4 banger.

On the dirt/logging roads, the 17 was nice, but the 09 4 banger was better. I think this may be the "new" engine in the 17. In the 09, I could get on it in 2nd gear and start to bring it around on corners, not so much in the 17. The main issue keeping the RPMS up, and getting a lag or something between 2nd and 3rd. Granted this is hard driving and the truck isn't designed for what I was doing. But it is what I will use it for multiple times a year if possible.

Would I buy the truck again, yep as it serves it's purpose, just wish I could have kept the 09 or can pick up a regular cab later to have this fun with.
