true if I were to get a smitty I would just spend $100 & get 500lbs more winching. a higher IP rating of IP68 vs IP67, free winch cover ($25 value), wired or wireless controller,

    http://www.smittybiltdepot.com/Smit...aspx?t_c=18&t_s=300&t_pt=100702&t_pn=S/B98510

(those in bold are the only extras I care about. Mainly that IP68)

anyone know the difference between an "in the drum" and "out of the drum" brake and what is better? I see that is one of the differences between the smitty 98495 XRC and the 98510 X20.

The XRC can be made waterproof also so that a mute point. The wireless seems cool I just see it being dead due to lack of use everytime I need it. Price difference I found was $600.01 for the X2O and $430.00 for the XRC

    $100 difference.

I could care less about the wireless. having higher rating waterproof solenoid and motor is all I really care about.

No I got the XRC. I dont think the X2O will fit in my elite bumper

Loking at it now they are both about the same in deminsions. So it could have. The XRC has 3 mounting options for the solenoid where as the X2O has 2. Ohwell it'll be here Friday

Go for the X2O. I was going to get it originally but rushed my decision and didnt search for a tax free website. 4wd.com was going to charge $50 in tax I bought the XRC on ebay fir $430 no tax free shipping

I've read you can waterproof any winch so whether its IP67 or IP68 shouldn't be an issue. Basically disassemble it and remove all the factory RTV and replace it with your own. Pretty simple if you ask me.

might have to pull the trigger on the X20 soon. Just found a 10% off code for auto anything and they are giving away the "free" cover too. I just wonder which one of these websites don't charge tax lol. Usually the bigger sites do.

Anyone know if there are issues with relocating the solenoid on the X2O? I want to move it into the engine bay.

thats my future plan. Says it can be put in 2 different positions on the website. I assume if it can be removed and moved around on the winch itself it should be safe to say extending the wires and moving it into the engine bay shouldn't be a problem. At least that is what I figure.

Kind of what I was thinking. Just make longer wires and bolt it to an open spot under the hood. Wireless remote would work well in that case :D

Funny. Same here. I've been searching the interwebs for longer cables, crimp connections, etc. Thinking about upgrading the synthetic line and adding a factor 55 pro link but that's just more $$$.

I noticed that the hook is non-detachable, and will need to be cutoff for a thimble. Not a problem, but found it strange.

yeah haha I still haven't found out what exact kind of wire to use
as far as (max volt rating/amps??) I know I should use 0 gauge however to be save because of the extended length. But I don't know how much these things draw and I want more than enough so I don't have to worry about it. I think the sun line will be fine for me. It is rated at like 19,000lb breaking strength on the 10,000lb winches. I do like the thimbles but that can wait a bit.

So after pricing things out as far as wires and connectors go. I might just go this route on eBay. They make your wire custom for you with whatever connectors and color you want. This is for 2/0 gauge AWF Marine cable. I can just measure it and order the pieces I need to make it work. Seems convinent.

Awesome. Thanks for the link! I guess I won't need to keep looking for the easiest and cheapest way to build my wires......I'll just find someone else to do the work.
