Searched forums to no avail but I’m curious, is there an aftermarket product, or through dealer, to add push button start with smart key to my SR5? It uses a key but man, I want push button start!!

Not unless you want to pay for a big ignition harness that snakes all through the engine. I had push button, i hated it. Tried to see about having a keyed ignition, but that entails ignition harness through the engine, cost approx. $1100 to do. Enjoy the few keyed ignition vehicles left.

I hate the push button as well. Much rather have a traditional key.

I got the push button start. It is very convenient as I have not taken my key out of my pocket in a year. To each their own

you can buy aftermarket rfid systems that pretty much work like a remote starter but with a button. you just have to carry around a aftermarket fob all the time.

Well, my wife’s charger has a smart key and I find it handy. Especially when you can remote start it and have it cooled off inside 5 minutes before leaving work.

I still want the key. Not wanting to remove it. I’m just wanting the convenience. But most of you are prolly right... more money and trouble than what it’s worth. Thanks!!

OEM smart key does not have a remote start, just FYI.

Do the key fob equipped tacomas have an actual door or tailgate key supplied as well?

Curious, why do you guys prefer a key? Going to my first push start...I love it.

I personally really like PTS. This is my first PTS vehicle, and it makes things so easy.
With the lexus card key, I never have to take out anything.

Lack of smart key access from the right side is still stupid.

I prefer key, but my wife loooooooooooooves smart key, just leaves in her purse.

I love the more basic electronics, but really like the physical action of feeling the ignition turn over in my hand and fire up. Not the video game push button feel, it feels too disconnected.

Same with my wife. Just leaves it in her purse. She walks up, puts fingers under handle and doors unlock. Puts foot on pedal and presses start and off she goes. No fumbling with keys. Sometimes, she starts it 10 minutes before going to car and by that time it’s cold in there. She looooves it also!

I traded my 2001 Tundra for the Charger. I’m hating every minute of it and let her know every now and then! Lol

The Lexus key allows for no keys in your pocket but it has 0 advantage over the key fob for starting and unlocking. I too never have to take anything out leaving the key fob in my pocket.

Key start = old school! yeah baby!
Now, if they put the key start on the dash where the push start is, that's old school 60s style! double yeah baby!
