I was reading a thread the other day where this happened to a guy (CEL and trac light at the same time) and it turned out it was his gas cap....check and make sure it's tight.

Aside from that, get the code pulled so you at least have an idea what you're dealing with. Any auto parts store should be able to pull the code for you for free with their scanner, I know Pep Boys and Auto Zone will do it. Once you have the code, google it and post it up here so we can try to narrow it down.

My sons car was getting the slip indicator light. it turned out that brake dust had accumulated on the sensors and was preventing them from working properly. Changing new brakes may have stirred up dust that needs to be cleaned.

Whoever performed the brake replacement could have moved or damaged a brake sensor. As stated above get the active code and post it in this thread so help and advise can be provided to all of us.

does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.
You sure you just didn't bump the button that turns off traction control? I know I've bumped that button on and freaked out for a second when the lights on the dash lit up.

I had my "check engine" and "TRAC off" lights come on the day after I bought my truck. Turned out my ECM was bad and they had to replace it.

I'm sure that isn't your issue... just thought I'd share.

I'm getting a punctuation code from the ops' posts. Op, did you go back to the shop that did the work to ask them and give them a chance to check the truck out? Further, you didn't post what you had done to the brakes, but oil changes, air filters and tire rotations are very simple things. We have a pretty close community here, and if you lack the knowledge to do these things, I'm sure you'd be able to find local members willing to help. Welcome to TW.

    Maybe? I don't know. I do know there isn't a brake sensor. :)

I just had this happen to me today on my 2010 DC Tacoma Base that I purchased a few weeks ago. I just wanted to say thank you to you guys for posting this information as it definitely saved me a trip to the dealer at the least. After reading through everyone's comments, I disconnected the battery for 20 minutes and the codes have not returned in a little over a day so far. I did have the rear leaf springs and suspension inspected at the dealer for a recall on the leaf springs and I'm thinking something got bumped or a sensor was irritated enough to set off the lights. Again, brand new member and first time Tacoma owner, very grateful for everyone!

    Thank you from South Dakota!

Just thought I would add. Same issue happened to me. Check engine light and slip indicator light came on. Also when I checked with a scan tool those 5 standard emission codes were being thrown.

    P043E, P043F, P2401, P2402, and P2419

Disconnected my battery for about 30 min, snugged down the gas cap and cleaned the battery terminals.

Reconnected the battery and all codes and lights have disappeared
