Like the title said - what order do people generally buy armor? Are skids more important or sliders...or perhaps a combo (ie, front skid, slider, transfer, etc.). Thanks for any answers.

I went with skids first. I can deal with a dented cab better than I can a hole in the oil pan or gas tank. That leaves you stranded

Depends. I went sliders first as most of the runs I do are tight with lots of rocks/ trees to get caught up on. It’s usually easy to see what’s right in front of you and avoid it or get out and move it.

I chose to drive carefully for 5 years and haven't done any damage to my truck yet...

But sliders will be first for me as I agree with Ryan...

Thanks for all the insight! I can only do one or the other and this really helps. I will probably go with armor first.

I know! Keep an eye open though.. The vendors seem to have sales pretty frequently.. I went @SOS CONCEPTS because Eddy is super helpful answering all of my questions and there are a bunch of guys in my area running his armor. The tax time sale was perfect timing for me to place my order. He makes quality stuff for sure!

I recommend an IFS skid first and then sliders. Then complete the skid trilogy

I ended up going sliders first, but skids are next. Bumpers are going to be, unfortunately, last.

Depends on how you "wheel" or not wheel.

IMO the first thing should be sliders and then see if you need anything else.

Do yourself a favor and see if your truck NEEDS armor underneath....most folks DONT need it!

However if you are on a trail and get in a "tight" turn, you might want Sliders.

Just WHEEL your truck and see what you NEED. Don't go the MEGA ARMOR thing if you aren't going to need it.

Sliders are a great FIRST investment.

Go from there and SEE what you need after that.....don't waste your hard earned dollars on undercarriage armor if you are not going to need it.

Solid advice. Even without taking this truck I KNOW I will need it. In fact, I’m camping/backpacking in canyonlands in early June and will be staying at Devils Kitchen, which will take me over Elephant Hill.

Over the past 5 years I’ve done a lot of backcountry backpacking/adventuring but we primarily used my friend’s truck, which has taken a beating (no armor). My lifestyle and adventuring seeking won’t change. I totally get what you are saying and I agree, but I know I will be actively getting into the backcountry so for me, it’s not worth waiting.
