I was wondering if anyone has put a sled deck on a tacoma and what sled deck manufactures make one? Every manufacture that i have looked at the legs are to wide at 57" and the tacomas box is 53" inches. I have attached a picture of my tacoma for a reference and also a tacoma with a custom deck. I live in BC if anyone has a recommendation on manufactures or who can make one like the one below. Its for a single sled, but also wouldn't mind a double in case I upgrade to the new Tundra when it comes out! Thanks :)

Up here they use 3/4 tons to mount the sled deck. I wouldn't use a Tacoma, why not get a trailer ??

I'm not sure a sled deck is practical for a Tacoma. You'll be pretty much maxed on payload just between the deck and 1 sled. Is it a mountain or trail sled? Mountain may fit in the bed but a trail sled will need to go over a wheelwell to fit.

Why not make a simple one from plywood? Should be pretty easy. A 4x8 should fit nice width wise and be off the bed floor so you can slide the ramp easily under it. But with that said I'd still prefer a trailer if you have the room for it. Be surprised how much you use for non-sled stuff.

A little late to the game, but check out Limitless Manufacturing in Vernon, BC. Couple options, they look pretty slick.

I have seen sled decks but only on 3/4 ton trucks. I sure wouldn't put one on a Taco.

As a SoCal native, I was blown away when I found out as a young teen that people actually owned their own snowmobiles.

Snowmobiles are cool. Post more pics of tacomas + sleds plz.

I've never been on one before. I'm used to water and dirt/sand. '96 Seadoo HX and 2019 CanAm x3.
Where do you ride a snowmobile? Is there designated land for it like down here for OffRoad vehicles? We offroad mainly on BLM land here.

Funny enough I had a 94 GTX, 95 XP and 98 GTX Limited and also have a 14 Maverick. I ride mainly in Norther WI and the trails are for ATVs in the summer and snowmobiles in the winter. The trails are maintained and groomed (kinda like a ski slope) by local clubs. You pay a small annual fee to use them (30ish bucks).

You can ride pretty much anywhere. Down the street, to bars, across the lakes etc. Get around real fast as you can shoot across a lake at 70 mph. This is the map for just one county that I ride in. It's like this all over WI.

    https://sawyercountyalliance.com/sawyer-county-snowmobile-atv-trail-maps/

Idea of what the trails look like summer vs winter.

Pit was a little deeper than expected here... good thing for the winch.

Where I am, you join a local snowmobile club, get a provincial trail pass, your fees go towards trail grooming and maintenance. Lots of non club trails, lakes, etc to ride, and you can ride on and along most in town streets except for what is consider the downtown core. The designated trails stretch pretty much across the province over crown lands, and some private land, with the land owners permission of course. From there, trails connect with other provincial trail systems. Just pick up a visitor pass, for a fee of course, and you can ride those trails for the amount of time you’ve purchased.

I’m not into the mountain, free ride scene. I’ll leave that to others to speak about.

My friend built a nice one by cutting up a full size deck and making it narrower. Pretty easy if you have a friend with a welder.

Still rocking the one I built 9 yrs ago. Changed the top plywood once and added few coats of paint since

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/my-taco-sled-atv-deck.262713/

Replaced the rear shocks with BP-51's 3 years ago, suspension is even better since I can adjust rebound and compression. I only need about 30 psi in my airbags with a full cab/box and sled now.

Wouldn’t a trailer be more optimal? Around my parts I rarely see a snowmobile in the bed of a pickup.

Takes me 5 minutes to load a sled in my truck, I can park it and take it anywhere a truck a trailer can’t. It’s just inconvenient having a trailer to worry about when you’re just doing day or weekend trips. I have a 2 place trailer and it hasn’t even moved this season. Road salt and sand destroys sleds regardless of tarping when open trailered. Yes a lightweight clamshell or aluminum trailer would be nice but the price inflation on trailers (if you can find one) in Canada is criminal and really it’s just not for everyone.

    For OP

These are CrossTrax sled decks, made in AB. There are distributors in BC.

7ft deck and fits in 3rd Gen Tacomas

edit: just realized that’s your truck in the photo I attached and you’re selling the deck. Jeezus haha…

As someone who owns a clamshell and a tacoma, my shell just broke so I removed it… the amount of drag and has you suck up hauling a clamshell is horrible. At highway speeds I average 7mpg. With the sled in the bed of my truck it’s like 17-18
