Slam hood or push it closed?

I just drop it shut from like 1/2 hight

 

I do about a 5" drop with mine, I have my hood leveler's screwed out a ways and pushing it closed doesn't always guarantee it will fully latch, last thing I want is my hood to pop up at 80mph and rip the latch out of the core support flip back shatter the windshield swerve get hit by and 18 wheeler and end up upside down in a ditch on fire.



Or something like that.

Just drop it you won't hurt anything.

 

I drop from an altitude sufficient to close it all the way.

 

i got hood shocks, so i just drop at 5-6'' from the bottom is enough.

 

I give my hood a kiss and tell it that it did a good job today. I find that positive reinforcement gets me better mileage than threats of violence.

Tacoma hood is rather heavy, I do both. Sometimes a few inches drop. Sometimes I push it closed.

tundra hood has struts, won’t really drop so push close

Half way from fully open just drop it. I've been doing that for almost 40+ years on all of my cars and trucks with no issue. Most of them I've kept for 10+ years.

 

I just drop it. No problems.

 

I always let my neighbour close it for me. She has a soft touch.

Did they lighten the hood post 2018? On my '18 I can barely get my fingers out of the way letting go from six inches. Things slams shut with a loud bang.

 

Yeah, Tacoma by far has the heaviest hood of any vehicle I've ever experienced.

 

I drop my hood from about 6 inches. No problems in 6 years. Hood still lines up like it was brand new. Like the guy in this video says, go by any used car lot and look for dents on the hoods above the latch.

new truck, drop from 6", semi new truck drop from a foot, old truck slam, northeast old truck slam until it latches.

 

The guys at the 2022 Tundra demo said they've had dents from people trying to push the hood shut...
