I tried searching but couldn't find enough info. I just bought a 2003 double cab tacoma with a 6 inch fabtek lift and brand new king coilovers. No body lift. It came on stock rims and tires. I wanted to either get
    Nitto ridge grapplers in 37/11.5r18
    or BFGs K02s in 34/10.5r17.
I like the tall skinny tire look and don't want them to stick out past the fenders too much. I think its re-geared and the guy told me it is but not sure of the ratio. Im gonna check it by jacking it up and spinning the tire.
My main question is how much will I have to cut with the 37/11.5 and is it too stressfull for this vehicle? Im hoping that the narrow width will require less cutting or none. I will rarely do major off-roading. Mostly gravel roads that normal cars can drive. Im a newb so I want to ask here before I make a mistake. Thanks

I’m a tall skinny enthusiast too. If you’re not off roading 37’s are going to have a hell of a lot of drawbacks in terms of clearance, power loss, part breakage etc. It sure would look good though!

my vote is 34’s. you’ll have enough of a hassle with those but it will still be livable.

Right on! I wasn't sure if the 34s would look too small or if getting narrow 37s would allow me to run them since they are lighter and less rolling resistance. I like reliability myself but I got the truck for a good deal with the lift. Thanks for the quick reply.

If 4wd be sure to check both ends to be sure they are the same. And that gear will make a major impact in taller tires which affect the final gear ratio.

So you're only going for looks to fill up the lift? 'Cause 33's will more than serve the purpose of how you drive. Sometimes less is more.

Yah Im mostly getting them because I already have the 6 inch lift and feel weird running stocks. I want to at least look proportional. But I also don't want to get the 34s and regret not getting the 37s. Some people say the 37s will be no problem but others say it will be a structural nightmare. So just trying to get some answers. If 34/10.5s look good then I would be happy with those. Also the truck is 2wd so its really just a looker not a dedicated offroad truck. just gravel roads.

255/85r16 will have a chunky look with lots of sidewall. Those 34’s you’re talking about are heavy and unless you’re running some major gears it’s going to be a dog to drive.

So this is a drop bracket lift that is very difficult to reverse, correct?

That sure is pushing you into an expensive tire corner.............

    Best of luck!

He can run any size tire he wants. He can put on 28 inchers. How is he backed into a corner?

The BFGs run small. Do a little reading on those 34x10.50s

285/75R17 is a good 34 with a lot of options available.

Or check out the Kendas in 35x10.50r17

it says that the bfg 34/10.5r17 only weigh 54.8 lbs. similar weight to a 255/85/r16. and i don’t see the bfgs offered in the 85 sidewall but similarly sized tires are around that weight.
