Scenario: I'm using apple carplay with waze on the screen and listening to Sirius XM. I make a call on apple carplay after I hang up, it doesn't go back to Sirius XM. When you push the Audio button it shows the iPhone USB as the active source. Is there anyway to prevent this from happening. It says my software is up to date and the iPhone software is up to date.

Have you tried setting one or more of the XM channels as a favorite like you would a radio station?
I am currently using waze like you on the way in from work each day...Soon as it quits storming outside ,I'll verify how it works on my truck...

edit: I see what you are talking about...Mine behaved like yours It tried to pull music from iphone and left XM...bummer

No idea either. I would give Toyota corporate a call. The person who picks up the phone more than likely will have no idea. Ask them to push it to a technical party for an answer.

My Tundra is the exact same way. I have a wireless CarPlay dongle and I’ve gotten to the point where if I don’t want Google Maps or Spotify in that moment I don’t even hook up CarPlay. Following for someone hopefully having our solution!

Doesn’t Sirius have a smartphone app? Why not just run your connection through the app instead of the truck.

    Or just get Apple Music/Spotify.

That sounds dandy until I tell you that in my personal use case I find myself without cell service on like 70% of our weekend adventures!

    Oh look, another mod....

There will never be a solution. Toyota Tacoma's hate Apple products. You people need to switch to Android so you stop having random and odd issues.

Android is not an end all solution. Has problems of its own.

The iPhone is very good for users who want a phone that works. iPhone is fantastic at doing what it was designed to do. Yes I have been ready to gouge my hair out dealing with Apple “support.” Still have weird issues that never got resolved and never will get resolved. But I still enjoy my iPhone. Don’t do weird shit like connecting CarPlay and Sirius at the same time and the iPhone is great! Lol.

I think of it like Tesla. Personally I won’t be buying a Tesla any time soon, given all the QC issues and price increases. But Tesla sells a TON of vehicles. People swear by them. Pick your poison. Just because you don’t like Apple doesn’t mean the iPhone isn’t reasonably compatible with the Tacoma.

That was a very well thought out and fair argument. Well done sir.

    ....iPhones still suck though. :)
