I purchased a new siphon pump to drain my PS reservoir and after I suctioned the reservoir to near empty I noticed a little bit of white smoke coming out. It was very faint, but I believe the suction pressure may have been too much. It hasn't happened since and my levels are normal. I've driven her around 40 miles now and checked again and nothing has changed? Should I be concerned?

I hope not. I inserted the suction hose end into the reservoir, no air pushes out from that end. The air comes out through the other end of the pump. What should I look out for in case that might've happened?

It's fine. Don't worry about it.
    Seriously, You didn't hurt anything.

    Don't worry about it.

Next time, just jack the truck up and turn the steering wheel left and right a few times to "prime" rack and pump.
But you are fine, Don't worry about it.
