I went to 3 local chain auto supply stores looking for a set of window deflectors for my 2007 Access Cab. None had any, one store didn't even have them online. One store's website appears to have some for a regular cab. I don't care about the back cab windows - so that should work, right? I'd think the door size and frame of the regular and access cab would be the same.

I like them, I have them on my Silverado. The air conditioning doesn't work right now in my Tacoma, and with the Silverado (also no AC) opening the windows a bit with these does seem to help keep some rain out. Plus, I think they'd look good on a black truck like mine.

I got my AVS rain guards on Amazon. The ones I ordered only came for the front windows.

Wow - thanks for that thread, they certainly are different sizes. Didn't think of Weathertech - good idea. I'm not one that orders online, but in this case looks like I'll have to.

I was originally thinking Amazon. I'll check that too.

I’ve had the wethertech in-channel for 13 years now.
I love them. I’ll buy them for my next vehicle too. But let’s hope that’s no time soon.

My rig (07 AC) has AVS while the wife has WeatherTech on her SUV. Both are in channel style and honestly, the only difference I see is the branding. The WeatherTech logo is kind of small and discreet while the AVS is more obvious.

I saw in-channel, and the others I'm used to that mount on the outside. Seems in-channel are more flush with the frame. How do those mount and is there any advantage to either?

Always go with the in channel ones for durability and a custom clean look. They sit inside the window frame and the glass closes into it. The outer mount ones uses double sided tape and it just looks cheap. I've seen some flapping around once the tape comes loose.

Weathertech is good quality. Their rain guards were the very first thing I purchased when I bought my truck a few years ago and they have been on ever since.

Ok thanks for the description and recommendation.
I've heard good things about Weathertech. I was considering getting something in stock, there were several for the full size U.S trucks. I was thinking if they're large for the Tacoma - if anything they'd extend beyond the front door frame and partially cover the access cab section, which may not look all that bad. But I suppose if the angle isn't the same forget it.

A non-custom fit doesn't sound great. I used Weathertechs on a company SUV that saw an automatic car wash 2x a week. Looked great for 7 years and I would always go with them in the future.

In channel weather tech on a Highlander, S15 and the Tacoma.

Fit well, work well, no muck on the paint

Yeah scratch that idea. Should do it right - and I don't mind paying a bit more for something good. Thanks all for the recommendations and @Wattapunk for the specific Weathertech page.

The only caution I would give about the weather tech is to add a few drops of silicone type glue into the channel to secure in place. I had a rear deflector on my 4 door fall off a few years ago. I bought replacement replacement locally (saved shipping) and the dealer told me to add the glue when installing. I put small drops on all 4 deflectors and (so far) have not had any further issues.

Ok good to know. I've been lucky with hot days, they've been on the weekend like this one with no where far to go. Back to work tomorrow it'll be cooler with rain. Rain is why I'm looking forward to getting something installed. Also, although it may only help marginally - on hot days like this with my old truck (as the deflectors) I'd have the windows open about an inch or so when parked.

I haven't ordered anything yet - but just realized the piece above the grill on my Tacoma that I thought was factory is actually by AVS.

Ended up ordering an AVS in channel pair online, something I don't normally do but these days I guess I need to get used to that. I like the way they look, fit nicely but not a routine installation. On the drivers side, the window would hit the shield going up, on the lowest point. I couldn't get in flush enough for the window to clear. I cut the plastic on the inside at the lowest point, where it adheres to the area of the plastic that the rear view mirror mounts. Knowing that, I did the passenger side's as well. But - the passenger side window would hit the top, upper left. Same thing there, trimmed it off. Not visible what was done from the outside. Fortunately I got the air conditioning fixed so the windows can stay up for 24 hours.

On an unrelated note, not being mainstream and ordering online by most others - does Amazon have an option to specify where to leave the package? I couldn't find any general 'Contact us' page to ask the question. The delivery was fine, it's just that it was a the front door which I don't normally use. It was good they included a photo to show where it was.

Has anyone had a problem with them scratching the window tinting. I like the in channel but don't want to scratch up the tint.
